From time to time every Afterworder will feel the need for a little sugary pick-me-up or chocolaty treat. Whether a Mars bar on the commute home or a bag of Maltesers whilst lying in a contemplative, stoned reverie on the sofa, we will all have a confection of choice.
I love the Raisin & Biscuit Yorkie and the dark chocolate Bounty (never the more obvious milk chocolate version), but top of the tree would be a simple packet of Fruit Pastilles. Five yummy flavours and of course I keep all the strawberry ones to last!
What’s your sweetie pleasure?

It’s a once a week that for me, out of respect for my teethe and what’s left of my waist. I live the combination of chocolate and caramel, so Roloes, Munchies and best of all Boost Bars can be looked forward to.
Largely given up choc for the sake of a slim profil, but I used to be very partial to a Double Decker. There days the magnificent DeliChoc biscuit is as far as I go, though I gave the Heros tub a caning at Christmas.
I’m not so much the sugar fiend these days – I remember when confectionery had two ‘e’s and fewer e- numbers – but I do like a nice Bounty, savoured slowly, with an appreciable gap (anything up to 4 seconds) between the first bar and the second
A word of warning about the Bounty Bar and the long since departed protective cardboard strip (ooof).
Me, I’m partial to a bit of Galaxy and one line off a biggish bar usually satisfies my cravings in an evening. I also like those bags of twirl bites, despite not being particularly fussed about the full sized bar.
For a healthier option, M and S do a range of sugar-free drops which are dead nice. The butterscotch ones are basically Werthers Originals and they also do rhubarb and custard and strawberry and cream.
Oh Smudger! What have you done?
I watched the John Shuttleworth Bounty Bar video and I’ve had that “Oh Mars of Slough … you’ve really done it now” line repeating in my head for the past 24 hours like a Grade A earworm. What can I do to remove it? It’s starting to do my head in…
That makes two of us!
Two words – Old Jamaica!
A pedant writes – it’s confectionery, not confectionary. With an e not an a.
I’m not a sweat eeter.

Don’t have a sweet tooth.
Olives. Vegetable Samasos. Cherry Tomatoes. Celery Sticks. Onion Bhajis.
… pickled eggs/cornichons.
Trebor Extra Strong Mints for if I’m feeling drowsy while driving the work van.
Jam Doughnuts (if they’re spelt “Donut” they’re usually going to miss The Spot by a mile) as an occasional treat.
Green & Blacks Ginger chocolate, rarely these days.
My tooth is currently more savoury than sweet.
Reeses Nutrageous. Pure heroin!
In a similar line, peanut butter M & Ms. Luckily there are prohibitively expensive in the UK, but if they were as cheap as tap water I’m sure I would eat little else.
Bout once a month some jelly sours, from a garage, but never Haribo cos they are made of old tyres. Whole bag in half an hour and then never again. Till the next time.
Wine Gums.
They are ace….don’t taste of wine though, but you can’t have everything.
Rolo Dark.
BeBop for the tastebuds.
As per original post quite partial to fruit pastilles but my preference is the green ones – I invariably eat them all before anyone else gets their mitts on them.
Aside from that I like Topics and Galaxy.
Marmite on crumpets this morning, with a celery garnish.
