Well my life is just one long overlap of railways and folk, talking of which they run quite a few folk and jazz trains around here. Does this happen elsewhere, or is it just a Northern thing?
I booked on shift this morning just as all the railway mobiles were buzzing with this … and shortly afterwards with the complete closure of the East Coast Main Line due to trespassers.
It’ll be passing within 200 yards of where I am, in the next 20 minutes, but I can’t get out of the office and there are buildings in between. Damn and blast
Best bit was the bloke who waited all morning in Lincolnshire to get a picture only for a Virgin train to come from the other direction at precisely the moment the FS passed.
I enjoyed that article. And was fascinated to read that in 1995, the FS was “part-owned by record producer Peter Waterman”.
Not so often that the world of railways and pop overlap. Although Damon Albarn did once take his Africa Express tour around the UK by train.
