We’ve clocked up 44 weeks of checking and some stalwarts are still on the wagon, clinging onto the wagon, or brushing the dust off from a fall from the wagon. Check in the comments, and let us know how your shaping up is shaping up. Oh, and I might explain my odd choice of YouTube clip…

EXERCISE – Did a seven miler this week – my longest run yet. Plus my other usual stuff (swimming, squash, rugby). Also, on a visit to that there London, I couldn’t resist the challenge of jogging up a stationary escalator at Leicester Square Station, which only a handful of people were ascending. I managed three quarters of it (not realising quite how many steps there are), before the burn hit my thigh muscles, so I walked the final quarter, and was out of puff in a manageable way, unlike the two young men behind who were collapsing all over the place behind me, unable to talk! I was quite ridiculously chuffed with this achievement.
Oh, and that’s why I picked the YouTube clip.
But there wasn’t a werewolf.
FOOD – Eaten healthily.
DRINK – Several Long Island Iced Teas on a Sunday night out. Well, you’ve got to let your hair down sometimes, haven’t you?
SCALES – 1lb this week. Total loss has now hit 50lb. That sounds good!
MISCELLANEOUS – Ordered a new pair of running shoes, as mine have reached their mileage limit. It’s really important to replace them when they start to lose their cushioning, especially if you’ve had any injuries. And I’ve bought a nice long sleeved running top to keep me warm on chilly rugby training nights! Really chuffed with reaching the 50lb mark.

Well, been a funny few weeks – was away a couple of weekends and that put me out of my routine. so i’ve kinda plateaued at 11 stone 10. Have started a part-time degree (6 hours a week) which necessitates me working late the other days of the week to make up the time. Makes it more difficult to up my gym/swimming, simply through dented will-power…

It’s hard when your routine changes. Once you’ve had a couple of weeks of the new routine, maybe it’s worth sitting down and having a look at where you could realistically find any extra time for your exercise. Alternatively, instead of trying to up the frequency of exercise, maybe up the intensity, instead?

Nearly two weeks of DIY carting stuff about, rubbing stuff down, combat rollering…and more importantly 3 weeks away from business hotel life…shows scales down from nudging 13.4 to a much more acceptable just over 13. I shall be happy when it starts with a 12 and intend to have a bit of a push before Christmas to avoid having to have one after!
Awesome work from you Drakey. An inspiration! X

Thanks, Twang. I like the dedication you’re showing in advance of the Christmas blowout – that’s proper forward planning.

Ten days in North Norfolk which is almost unrecognisable from when I lived on the coast over thirty years ago. In those days all you could hope for was mediocre fish & chips washed down by disgusting industrial beer. Now it’s all delis, smokehouses and gastropubs surrounded by massive SUVs and Maseratis.
All this by way of excuse – despite my being constantly restrained from physically assaulting yet another Barbour-coated couple braying loudly about property prices I had some of the best meals I’ve had this year and a frankly bewildering but entirely bewitching array of microbrewery ales.
Therefore no weigh-in for me this week, just restrained eating and no alcohol till Friday.
Blooming heck, Drakey: 50 pounds! You is a star!!
Freddy Steady says
Where exactly were you, may I ask Mr Stone? I couldn’t wait to “escape” from Norfolk as a youngster but as you say, it’s a different place these days. Well, North Norfolk certainly.
And as far as industrial beer…. I remember something simply called Norfolk Bitter…Cak!
Lodestone of Wrongness says
We had a cottage in North Creake. I still love Norfolk but, jeeze, Burnham Market is obscene. No problem with the artisan butcher and fishmonger but a high-end jeweller, “the best boutique outside London” and other assorted fripperiee? Chelsea-on-Sea frankly disgusted me….
drakeygirl says
Thanks, Mr Wrongness. Restraint instead of guilt is a good way to go. You can soon knock off any Norfolk poundage. (Which sounds like something unmentionable Alan Partridge would do in a Travelodge, but you know what I mean).

50lbs? World class.
Took it fairly easy after my race. Did a quickish 3k and one 6k run. About an hr of squash tonight and won a couple of games! (First for a while)
Have kept reasonably well to low carb diet. Alcohol not too bad and I drank only low carb light beers which are like making love in a boat …
Did not weigh myself.
drakeygirl says
Let me sound some whoops for your squash victories. Marvellous stuff!
Baron Harkonnen says
Well, you lot on your 95K runs and swimming the length of Loch Ness makes me feel quite feeble! However the quest to restore my 6(6) pack moves on, down 0.75 of a lb last week, I`m now down to 13st.3.75lb, which the Baroness says is very good. Over the next month I hope to reach my target and then work on a diet that maintains my weight. Exercise, still walking 30-40 miles a week and feeling good.
drakeygirl says
If The Baroness approves, you must be doing something right. Keep going – and remember, some of us had a lot more to lose than others!

Still here! Just not been online so much.
All good here. Have dropped quite a significant bit of weight recently; the low carb high fat lifestyle seems to agree with me and I’m finding that I’m naturally eating less food.
drakeygirl says
*waves* Good going, Hannah.
Uncle Wheaty says
I have now lost a stone since starting my new job a month ago…happy days!
Uncle Wheaty says
Make that two months!
Clearly I am enjoying my new job (which I am).
Looking to be at my fighting weight of 13st 4lb by Christmas as a celebration of my weight following my Windsor half marathon back in 2004.
And then push on to a 12st plus a bit figure. Then I will stop.
dai says
You can’t stop …
drakeygirl says
Fantastic stuff, Uncle. That ‘fighting weight’ of yours is well within reach.
Co-incidentally, I dug out my half marathon medal from years ago, and that was in 2004, too. I trained from scratch for it half-heartedly (i.e. not hard enough) with a friend from work, and hated pretty much every moment over six miles.
In fact, it put me off running, for, oh, about 12 years. This year has been so different – I’ve done things gradually, shifted lots of weight before starting to run, and it’s a better experience all round. I may, of course, change my mind when I do a half marathon again next May!
