James Stevenson, over there in the far side, a hard working musician and very useful axe man. Currently / recently playing for the Cult, The Alarm , The International Swingers amongst others. Formerly of Kim Wilde and a host of others., I believe. I know of him as I have had the pleasure of watching him play in the Alarm for the last 12 years or so. As for Chelsea, of which I think he is an original or early member. I have no idea, which hasn’t helped really.
Were they 2nd or 3rd division punk? I ask because a friend of mine nearly hit Gene October when driving and he told me he nearly hit a third division punk. When I relayed this story to a colleague and punk fan he was adamant that they were 2nd division.
They were a pretty good live punk band, although they did degenerate into a bad heavy metal band by about 1979. I think they had two decent-ish songs – Right To Work and I’m On Fire. I saw them about 6 times, but have no desire to see them or listen to them again.
Ah Gene, in many ways what punk was all about.
RACIS… oh, wait.
Chelsea: time for a reappraisal?
I still hate them & despise the way they have become one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Will that do?

Ace band in ’77. Some great early singles when singles were king but should have done better.
Chelsea, The Members, 999
All, as Chelsea’s natural place in the scheme of things should be, strictly mid table second division
The Three Tuns! Great pub.
Did someone say 999?
