Charlie Dore has a new album out, Dark Matter. I haven’t seen in reviewed in any music magazine but if you are a fan of her music I really recommend it. There are terrific songs about dogs, neutrinos, lightbulbs, an imaginary man in bed, and life after death, just to give you a taster. Here is one about old telephone numbers in address books that is both funny and poignant, Old Numbers.

Strange coincidence but Randy Newman’s new album is also called Dark Matter.
Ooh yes. Still I bet it doesn’t have a song on it about spending 15 minutes with Danny Kaye on it!

Unpredictable path following my recommendations, obviously! Apologies. Well I do like whimsy it has to be said, (and also was very into Whimsies, the little china animals popular in the 1970’s). But the album isn’t all whimsical. Here is a lovely and quite deep song about swatting flies, self-will, the Great God of Random and reincarnation. Fly 9th July. See if you can get further with this one.

Erm, I think that will be Charlie Dore! Did you mean the lead vocal or the harmony? If the latter I am not sure, but possibly Charlie Dore again.
For a voice without any hint of a quaver, here is another one of my other current favourite new songs, a luminous woozy number, I See You by Will Stratton. Feel free to dislike it though!
To clarify, the song sounds like an Aimee Mann song with the/a wrong voice, and then a nice harmony addition.
