We turn our attention to the vast and constantly evolving world of folk/rock.  Exploring its  origins, the key players, festivals, dancing and the overbearing presence of Fairport amongst many other themes,

Twang, Pencilsqueezer, Retropath2 and The Cheshire Cat explore the music which can be accurately traced to a specific day in May 1967 when skinny Londoners and slumming jazzers played John Barleycorn with a drummer and started a musical genre which thrives to this day. 

Regional accents abound. Rounds of real ale are digitally supped.  Warm bonhomie is exuded.

The Afterword Podcast is the mutant brainchild of the people who inhabit theafterword.co.uk community blog – a lifeboat launched from the wreckage of The Word Magazine blog – RIP.

So this is our first stab – we discuss childhood listening, current grooves, Kate Bush and the unmissable artists plus George Michael and “What did The Word ever do for us?”

This and every podcast we consequently do is dedicated to Mark Ellen, David Hepworth, Fraser Lewry with all the writers, readers and friends that sailed in the good ship Word.
