The cobbled paths of Bath are well served with street performers of all kinds, especially in summer. There are living statues spray painted in gold and silver, jugglers, dancers, unicyclists, younameits. A stroll from Milsom Street down to Bath Spa railway station will expose your ears to an ever changing musical landscape, the variety of buskers being astonishingly wide as you progress, each a fair distance from the last and the next, allowing you to savour them all; folk troubadours, operatic sopranos, classic rock covers, country crooners, show tunes, loop pedal maestros and even flamenco styled guitarists.
There’s nothing better to lift the spirits than to unexpectedly hear a gifted performer playing in the open air with passion and joy for all to hear.
I give you one of my favourites, Estas Tonne from Ukraine – he’s not playing in Bath here, but in the street in Germany – you can hear (and download) his music from his website and pay what you want for it.
Wherever you are, I wonder what musical delights you might have heard playing in the streets on your travels, and can you share them with us here?
