Another FIPophile here. I used to listen to RTE Gold and the lad in the morning wasn’t afraid to play stuff off the beaten track but there was an awful lot of rubbish as well.
FIP is great for the background. There’s always something interesting and you can feel *very* sophisticated listenting to it!
I listen to FIP but also Totally Wired Radio and The Face Radio on Mixcloud Live. All soul, funk, Mod etc. if I miss a live show then I can stream it on catch-up later.
Hardly listen to yer actual standard radio now apart from Jazz FM, Classic FM and a bit of 6.
So FIP is a French Internet radio station? Does the 50 percent (number made up but boy does it feel like it) French artists rule apply like it does to terrestrial ones?
I listen to Melbourne community stations Triple R and 3PBS via internet, cherry picking what shows.
Occasionally I will do a global explore – Congo, Dar Es Salaam, Kingston. Just for fun.
Internet radio listeners, I urge you to check out Radio Tres as well. If all you get is a bunch of over-excited Spanish folk jabbering (si, totalmente! claro, si! claro!), at each other at high speed, go listen to FIP for a couple of hours. Then try Tres again – I’ve never bothered to look at their schedule, but some evenings, when I’ve hit the right show, they have the most superlative classic rock selection; you’ll hear stuff you haven’t heard before and stuff you haven’t heard for years – it makes you want to dig out all sorts of vinyl you’ve not even looked at since you were 15, 16. And it goes on for ages with NO INTERRUPTIONS. It’s like being in a bar where the DJ is your mad uncle with a truly great record collection.
Another up from me for FIP. Listening this morning they played ‘Personality Crisis’, just dropped it in the playlist which had been fairly mellow as you’d expect on a sunday morning. It’s a fine selection 99% of the time. The FPO enjoys the station too and it was warm enough when the sun was shining to sit in the garden and listen to FIp this weekend. Has spring sprung at last?
FIP for me as well for about the last 30 years. Great music, very little talking
Me too, discovered FIP when I lived in Paris in the 90s. Never fails to surprise me with the choices.

And, let’s be honest, the announcers are mignon. They’re actually reading the traffic reports but you can dream, boys.
With the full backing of my streaky C at French O level, would the female announcers of whom you speak not be mignonne rather than mignon?
I’m sure you’re right. My spoken French is serviceable but written is terrible. Odd because I can read it ok.

5Live is excellent and my radio mate during the day.
I only get to listen to music outside of working hours.

Endless fun.
Radio Paradise for me.
me too, found a lot of great stuff there over the years and the Mellow Mix is a perfect working background
