…And other Afterworders with taste. A great opportunity to see the Album of the Year™ being performed live in the studio. Mouse ears optional.

Musings on the byways of popular culture
Smiles Diles says
It is album of the year, I agree
Gary says
I suggest checking out Son Little‘s new album, ‘aloha‘. If nothing else, he eschews capital letters with same care-free abandon that Hattie Jacques reserved for diets. Were I arsed to write a reveiew I would fill in the “Might suit people who like…” bit with “Michael Kiwanuka“. My album of the year, probably.
Blue Boy says
Agreed! I’ve been amazed to see so little mention of this record anywhere – glad it’s not just me that thinks it’s a belter. Not my album of the year but certainly on my longlist.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
Cool! Wanders off to book a slot at the Eel Market…
Junior Wells says
Am I going to have to listen to this AGAIN to try to see what the fuss is about? 3 more listens and I will be up to the Tigger 6 benchmark.
mikethep says
I have applied my razor-sharp critical faculties to that clip…the verdict: quite nice.
Gatz says
I’ll have another go too. As I remember I didn’t hear any tunes, but there was one which sounded a bit like London Grammar which I quite liked.
Gatz says
OK, I’ve played it twice consecutively this morning and it’s better and catchier than I remembered. I don’t know about Album of the Year, but it’s certainly a lovely soundtrack to a grey day wfh.
dai says
Something wrong with my browser, it is directing me to a Taylor Swift link not to a performance by Bruce and the band.
MC Escher says
You want to update that browser, sounds like you’ve got a version from 1986 😉
dai says
Oh hang on, it’s working now:
MC Escher says
I’d stick with the 1986 version
Baron Harkonnen says
I’ve never heard a single second of the album and won’t be bothering to do so.
Too much good music to listen to.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
That’s the kind of open-mindedness we need on here! Completely accept Taylor isn’t everybody’s cup of tea and as we always say it’s IMHO in here but really – “too much good music to listen to”?
You would never hear me dismissing/dissing heavy metal or Prog or that dreadful little gnome who released the worst record ever made.. no sirree.
Moose the Mooche says
Leave Jamie Cullum aloooooone!
Baron Harkonnen says
I was going to say “open-mindedness” and Lodey aren`t exactly bosom buddies until you revealed your love of Prog.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
Me and Open-Mindedness are best buddies I’ll have you know. I love Prog me, especially when the previously castrated lead-singer falls into a vat of burning oil whilst the oblivious lead-guitarist embarks on a blistering, soul-searching solo which only ends three years later atop a pyramid in Gaza.
Moose the Mooche says
Giza you mean.
If he was anywhere near Gaza his solo would be ended by a missile.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
I could use the auto-correct excuse or I could tell the truth – the solo went on so long they built a pyramid in its honour
Freddy Steady says
I’m thinking of buying the Taylor Swift album for my wife for Christmas, will she like it?
Lemonhope says
I asked the Magic 8 Ball, online [it’s a real thing. check it out] and it said ‘It Is Certain’
Lodestone of Wrongness says
Watched the first fifteen minutes of the video this afternoon (another hectic day in The Languedoc) and so far it’s Ace in a Bucket!
Black Type says
It’s wonderful, isn’t it?
Lodestone of Wrongness says
Honestly, it’s more than wonderful. It’s absolutely magnificent! I loved the Brooce doc, so similar – let’s all go to our place in the country- but this is better in spades and buckets and…
Black Type says
That version of ‘exile’….sooooo intense.
Freddy Steady says
I’ve ordered it.
Mrbellows says
I hear this when I see the thread title.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
We are restricting ourselves to three tracks a night. This is simply stupendous stuff, makes them Beatles look like amateurs.
