I saw the wonderful Calexico last night and they covered Alone Again Or & Love Will Tear Us Apart. I don’t have time to do a Nights Out but in addition to a great set of their own songs, these two really stood out.

I was there too! Fantastic gig by one of my very favourite bands. A really good mix of old and new and the crowd were far more enthusiastic compared to some of the previous times I’ve seen them in London. They would have performed their excellent version of REM’s The One I Love too if they hadn’t hit curfew.
Here’s link to a full stream of their gig from the previous night in Brussels:
Thanks for the link. I’m going to try to download it. It was worth the mad drive from Cardiff to see them.
One of the best live bands around. I’d always been a bit meh on the records, but I saw them about a dozen years ago in Vicar Street, and since then I’ve loved them. If you’re in Cardiff, @davebigpicture, did you see them in Bristol about eighteen months ago? That was a good one.
I’m not based in Cardiff, I was working there for a couple of days so unfortunately no, didn’t see them last year. This was my first time . I live in Worthing, West Sussex so I finished at 5.45 and drove up the M4, then detoured around the overturned cement mixer near Reading. Got to Shepherds Bush at 9pm, only missed a couple of numbers. Drove back to the South Coast afterwards, got in at 1am. It was worth it though and I’ll be going again if I can. My drummer son wants to go too as he loves to try new (to him) rhythms.
Going to see Calexico in Liverpool on Friday, loved the band since `Spoke`, I will play that Brussels gig on Saturday, I don`t want to lessen the occasion – or something like that.
Damn. A free Tuesday evening and a choice between between Calexico, I’m with Her and an early night at home. I choose the homebound cop out. Hey-ho. Live and learn.
Seeing them in Manchester tonight…actually feeling pretty excited about it.
