Listening to it now. I know I’m not going out on a limb here but I think this is going to be a very popular album. SF is a generational talent I think.
He’s a talent for sure. Be interesting to see how his career progresses and if he can lose the BS tag.
As a side note the Alan Hull documentary that he fronts was screened again last night on BBC4 – worth a watch if you haven’t see it already.
It’s all personal, innit? Although given that the discussion on a reissue of Lamb Over Broadway (first released in 1872) has garnered roughly 45 times the number of comments for Sam F I’m not entirely sure that generally speaking this record is one for the AW.
It is not the most immediate song to be fair. It sounds a bit 2 dimensional the first few listens – pleasent enough in itself. But I’m now fully committed to it being both brilliant and having a fully 3D tune.

Meet the new boss – same as the old boss!
This is a stunning song. I’m a sucker for a brass band to start with but the lyrics are something else.
No other word than stunning
I just lost my dad a few weeks ago and I haven’t been able to cry until just now.
Sorry for your loss. The song really is incredibly moving.
Condolences Leffe – I lost my Mum a couple of months ago. It’s numbing but songs like this help I find.
Sorry to hear that LG. Lost mine in ’97 and still think of him every day
Thanks everyone- it’s been tough, but it’s a fact of life. I’m doing ok, so far, most of the time.
5 star review in the Graun. Independent less impressed.
First Neil Dates and now Bruce Drops – a fabulous week for new talent
Exactly. Maybe one of those sustainable carrier bags is in order.
‘Drops’… ‘Yikes’.
Last time I try to be a satirist
I bet it isn’t…

It’s a complete joy, that documentary. Anyone who chokes up thinking about Hull gets a gold star in my book.
I keep hearing how good this guy is so just been listening to People Watching.
Nah, don’t get it.
Same here.
It’s ultimately my loss and no reflection on Sam F’s music
