Cribbed from today’s Grauniad:
A new series of affectionate mockumentaries following Brian Pern, the erstwhile frontman of progressive rockers Thotch. In tonight’s first episode, Brian unveils a radical look, courtesy of new wife Astrid (Suranne Jones), who reveals that she will soon be taking over as Brian’s manager. Astrid’s quest for easy money lands Brian at the Isle Of Wight festival, and also on a Thotch fan cruise, complete with celebrity auction. John Thomson gets it just right as Thotch’s fan club president, Perry.
Hope this turns out better than series 2.
Who is Astrid based on?

I never saw series 1 but greatly enjoyed series 2. Suranne Jones will have her work cut out. Michael Kitchen’s scene stealing role as Brian’s potty-mouthed and gold-tinted manager will be a hard act to follow
Astrid clearly based on Janine St Hubbins.
I told them clearly. Spinal Tap first, puppet show second.
I enjoyed series 1, thought the second lost its way a bit. This looks promising based on the trailer.
Christopher Eccleston’s turn as a Manchester record producer as in one of the short online clips was beautiful stuff
Watched it this morning, nearly wet myself. Michael Kitchen on top form. There were so many things to laugh at. Thought it was a step up from previous series too.
Same as above.
Series 1 was immensley enjoyable, Series 2 was a bit laboured and seemed to be stringing out the gag.
Just seen last nights Series 3 opening – it is good, isn’t it.
Anyone else notice Brian Pern and John Farrow listed as Executive Producers on behalf of Poggle Productions
He was Bono!
Fantastic stuff with the teeth.
Magiv
Martin Kemp cooking Goodfellas pizza in a trouser press is, as they say, an enduring image.
Apparently the three series will be released on DVD in April with extras a-plenty. If the 1st series is uncut then that must have been a herculean task of rights clearance.
