Did anyone in the UK see this week’s ‘The Apprentice’? There was a guy whose plea to remain ‘in the process’ was that he had ‘a background in breakdancing’. We got to see some of this in the show and more in the ‘You’re Fired’ show after it.
I know nothing about breakdancing but, as far as I could tell, he was crap at it. Was I right?

I would be amazed if anyone in this community is able to give you an informed answer to this question.
But then, that’s never stopped us before….
Actually @deramdaze is an accomplished breakdancer, a skill he has assiduously studied while waiting for the Rolling Stones to release their first 2 albums on CD…
I think we can assume that any Apprentice contestant can automatically assumed to be a) a berk and b) crap at everything, unless you count the somewhat specialist skill of being able to dramatically reduce the value of a suit to nothing by simply wearing it.
Seriously, has anybody under the age of 40 in the UK not been on the Apprentice yet? It’s like Hawkwind with Lynx.
I’m still coming to terms with the fact that this year’s contestants include Billy Bunter and Olive from On The Buses.
They always seem to find weirdos, don’t they? None of us can do much about what we look like, but if I looked like most of this lot I would actively avoid the unforgiving lens of television. But then one factors in colossal delusion and ego and that overrides everything else.
Someone mentioned fir trees in this week’s episode and one contestant asked ‘Are there trees that grow fur?’
I’ve never watched The Apprentice. As I understand it, it’s a bunch of screaming halfwit 9-year-old sociopaths competing for a godawful managementbollocks non-job, and is responsible for Katie Hopkins being A Thing.
Doesn’t sound like an addition to the gaiety of nations to me.
Mother nature is responsible for Katie Hopkins being A Thing. The Apprentice merely helped bring her Thinghood to the attention of the unadoring masses.
Fuck Mother Nature right in the ear.
And the 3-legged camel she rode in on.
Your understanding, up until 5 years ago, is completely correct. They got rid of the non-job bit (curiously, after one ‘winner’ took Sugar to a tribunal because the job didn’t exist – unfortunately, she lost) and replaced it with Beardy investing £250,000 into the winner’s business idea.
Giving birth of Hopkins was and remains a nadir – until one considers that the US version also gave birth to Trump as ‘a thing’. Unfortunately, most Americans weren’t able to recognise a self-aggrandising piece of shit before voting for him.
Here’s some of his moves:

I retract my earlier comment.
You mean you are now able to provide an informed view?
Surely this vid was edited to exclude Jeff’s breakdancing? I am sure his danceular abilities revealed themselves on the editing room floor. And it is our loss. This is the BBC after all.
I don’t know about that, but my main observation would be that there’s no actual breakdancing in that video. Just what appears to be the generally accepted prelude to some breakdancing. It’s most unsatisfying.
It’s the hotel adult channel all over again.
He did more of this stuff – generally poncing about and posturing – in ‘You’re Fired’. Obviously, I’m no expert, but it didn’t look like breakdancing to me either – just a berk.
In my day break dancing was done to hip hop not classical music.
What I find bewildering about The Apprentice is that none of the contestants ever seem to have studied previous series to understand what is required of them in each task.
There is a range of tasks that recur – make and sell food; as in this week’s edition, design a product and sell it to experts; there will be one where they have to create an advert and another where they will be given a list of things they have to at the best price etc etc.
Once you identify the nature of the task you then know what Sugar is looking for and how to deal with it and your fellow contestants. But this never happens.
I find the lack of self-awareness staggering; solipsism, myopia, hubris, lack of empathy and plain stupidity seem to be the defining characteristics of most contestants.
Yes – thank goodness we never see any of that stuff around here!
The Afterword: I find the lack of self-awareness staggering; solipsism, myopia, hubris, lack of empathy and plain stupidity seem to be the defining characteristics of most contestants.
Yes but some of us CAN breakdance, you know!!??
I’ve broken things while dancing..
I’ve broken a rib “pretending” to dance.
Coffee table, slippery shoes, too much whiskey – ow
Not berks. Possibly not actual Tibetan monks either.
