Coicidentally, I had my 12-incher out for a spin on Saturday night. Mrs F, not being a bassist herself, was not a fan of the next link in the chain, the full-length White Lines.
24 very delicious inches there, young master Steven. Both thumbtastic air-bass grooves.
That could be any modern pop / RnB / urban track couldn’t it? Love Chaka and indeed funk but it’s hardly an unmistakeable Chaka Khan record. Nice enough but I am disappoint.
Ah yes, Mini, that reminds me. Boney M (one of them, anyhow) on Weekend Woman’s Hour last Sat.
I quite like it. It’s got a late-1990’s Propellerheads, Wiseguys feel to it that I dig. Agree that it could have done with more Chake though. It sounds more like a sample or a feature than a starring role.
We take what we can get.

Perfect for this current stinking heatwave – I always associate this kind of insistent, driving groove stuff with a city-dwelling ‘Do The Right Thing’ vibe.
