How can Amazon check the age of the purchaser?

In the UK, age-restricted products such as alcohol have to be delivered in person to an adult by the driver. Can’t just be left for collection. Age verification is required.
“Age Verification Required on Delivery: This product is not for sale to people under the age of 18. To confirm the recipient is over 18 years, valid photographic ID with a date of birth will be required upon delivery for all customers. The driver will input your date of birth into their device to confirm that age verification has been completed successfully, but will not be able to access your date of birth information once your delivery is complete.”
Teenagers aren’t interested in whiskey anyway. It’s not as if it’s a gigantic blue bottle of industrial cider.
In Canada you now have to pick up all alcohol deliveries from the post office, take your driver’s licence if you look younger than 19 (or 18 in Quebec).
I don’t want to worry you, but they are more likely buying synthetic drugs off the dark web.
