New Documentary coming from the Beeb about the first five years in Bowie’s artistic journey.
I love this period in his career, in fact I may have been the only one to choose his first album in the great Afterword vote of a while back.

I look forward to the documentary. It should be interesting.
I just wish they’d officially release Toy, much of which revisited songs from this era.
Perhaps it will have an official release when they get to that period (2001) in the box set series?
Still waiting for the announcement of this year’s offering.
I wonder if it will cover his flirtation with Fascism and views that we’d be better living in a fascist state, admiration of Hitler etc? Maybe a bit early, so in the next one?
He was drunk!
No, he was on drugs. It was the other guy who was drunk.
Who was he again?
Let’s hope so!
There won’t be much VT will there? The league of long-haired men, the Space Oddity film… that’s it.
Still verrrrry much looking forward to it though.
Today is the 50th Anniversary of the release of “Space Oddity” / “Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud.”
There’s a documentary on the a-side (shame it’s not about the b-side!) on Radio 2 on Saturday – 9 p.m.-10 p.m.
Also on 11.7.69, rather pleasingly, the first episode of Doctor In The House was broadcast …
… and did you know that 18.7.69 – the release of the Doors’ 4th L.P. in the U.S. – is the anniversary of the car crash at Chappaquiddick?
I don’t know why but I find all these events more interesting than the moon landing. That recent Radio Times reprint focussed entirely on the moon, I’m more interested in the TV and Radio schedules.
You could make a pretty good docco about Conversation Piece. Actually, it could be a feature film, probably starring Tom Courtenay as the protagonist and Toby Jones as his neighbour. Anybody got Winterbottom’s number?
