Transmission on BBC Radio Four this evening, then presumably moving to BBC Sounds afterwards.
Link to programme page in next post.

Musings on the byways of popular culture

“Writer and presenter: Francis Whately
Producer: John Wilson”
That’s a R4 dream team – when John Wilson isn’t the best presenter, hopes are high.
“A Blackstar production for BBC Radio 4” suggests involvement of the Bowie estate.
I’ve just listened to this. I think it’s very good indeed. Makes paying the license fee a little easier.
Well done all involved.
It is an excellent listen, though as ever with Bowie he is the essence of an unreliable narrator. I was in Berlin last summer and makes me want to go back again straight away. Also another excuse to post this:
Which if course demands the posting of this:
In between tedious domestic tasks today, I watched the Fanny film on iPlayer. I learned that Fanny bassist Jean Millington dated David Bowie for a year and later married Earl Slick.
And Suzi Quattro’s sister was Fanny’s replacement guitarist.
Good doco that.
By the way…. there’s a new Reinhard Kleist graphic novel coming: LOW • The Berlin Years

I listened to this in the car yesterday. Very good.
I must go and watch Five Years again.
