In preparing a Bowie ‘deep cut’ playlist for the trip to Brixton on Sunday I came across this version of Bring Me The Disco King that I had never heard before.
The song was remixed by ex-Nine Inch Nails bass player/keyboardist Danny Lohner for the soundtrack to the 2003 film Underworld. Maynard James Keenan, Milla Jovovich, Josh Freese, and John Frusciante also contributed. Not Mr Hudson and Sting’s son, ahem.

The there’s this piece of Deus like Danish alt-rock , produced by TV with Dave on additional vocals

Backing vocal duties for TV On The Radio
You certainly didn’t get deep cuts at the gig on Sunday. it was hits, hits, hits all the way. Not that there is anything wrong with the hits, but “The dame” would keep the more conservative fans out of their comfort zone and that was one of the good things about him. This is the thign that disappoints me about dead rock star memorials: it ends up as the big song everyone knows. When Paul McCartney dies, it’ll be “Mull of Kintyre”.
I like to think macca will go to the pearly gates to the jaunty bum-ba-bums of The Frog Chorus
In that case he’ll have trouble getting through, poor lad
There were a few – Lady Grinning Soul and Win in particular
You can’t do a Bowie deep cuts selection without this.

Good call
Always liked loads of Bowie remixes. I actually have a Spotify playlist of some of the best.
Here’s a link to the playlist – https://open.spotify.com/user/multipurpose/playlist/63SwcV1ZqgNhIxf32lwz2F
Nice. Like the ones where there is real re-working like

I Can’t Read
Late to this thread, sorry folks…
Good track that
That’s a new one on me – where from??
An Angelo Badalamenti album. Late 90s I think.
I prefer the old stuff. This is a song released by Peter Noone.
I’ve said it before, but I love Peter Noone’s cover of Oh You Pretty Things where he changes the line “the earth is a bitch “to the earth is a beast” because, as we know, “bitch” is swearing of the worst kind.
Conversation Piece. B-side to The Prettiest Star single, released in 1970. My copy cost 10p.
A great song in any context, but I prefer the weary gravitas of the Toy version. See also: Shadow Man.
Amen on CP, the new version of which might be my favourite noughties Bowie track. As usual, O’Leary’s account nails it.
Right.
Deep breath.
Can we have Toy released now please?
Can we have Toy released now please?

The Prettiest Star was out in 1970? That was on Aladdin Sane wasn’t it? Did he re-record it?
(yeah I realise I can google this but hey ho)
Originally released as follow-up single to Space Oddity.
Sold about 12 copies, but did feature Marc Bolan on guitar
