Bobby Tench died on 19th February 2024 at the age of 79.
He was a fine guitarist and worked with Van Morrison on the Wavelength album and Freddie King on the wonderful “Burglar” album amongst many other credits (Jeff Beck Group) etc.
In recent years he used to regularly sit in with The Alan Price Band for the latter’s fortnightly gigs at The Bulls Head In Barnes.

This is terrible news. I was good mates with one of his kids growing up and we all used to go to The Bulls Head to watch him play. He was a genuinely lovely man and a musician to his boots.
RIP Bobby.
Sorry to hear it. I very much enjoyed his playing with the Streetwalkers, on a kind of opposite pole to Charlie.
He was in Streetwalkers and that’s good enough for me on its own. Here he is actually duking it out with Chappo.
Plenty of focus on Bob in this clip:
Yes it’s a cracker, that one.
Another thumbs up for Bobby Tench and the Streetwalkers. A cracking band:
What a shame. I liked him with Streetwalkers but his great singing was obscured by Chappo. Really liked him with Van on one of my favourite Van albums “Wavelength”, but again he didn’t get to sing. He sang great with the Jeff Beck Group but didn’t play guitar! Finally with Hummingbird (comprising most of the JBGL he got to do both and they made an album I played to death, even if it was bargain bin fare. RIP maestro.
I saw Streetwalkers a fair few times and always thought Bob was great.
His response vocals to Chappo on Crawfish was always a delightful part of the show.
My girlfriend at the time also quite fancied him.
