First became aware of Bob Seger via Thin Lizzy cover of Rosalie (didn’t most people), and Eddie & The Hot Rods “Get Out Of Denver”.
But in spite of hearing a few other tracks, never went out and bought anything (not even a Greatest Hits).
Last month I bought “Ultimate Hits: Rock and Roll Never Forgets” – been on fairly constant rotation ever since.
I’ve heard it said that “Bruce Springsteen is the voice of Blue Collar America” – surely that is a spelling mistake and should read “Bob Seger” ?
I read an interview with him once and he was talking about his cover of Old Time Rock and Roll. He’d re-written it completely to the extent someone said he should put his name on the songwriting credits. He said “Don’t worry about it”
His version went on to be a smash and became the most played song on jukeboxes in the USA in history. His “Don’t worry about it” cost him millions. That’ll teach him for not being greedy!
Love Bob Seger – made some great records. His greatest hits really is a greatest hits unlike many that falsely claim that title.

Good voice, pish tunes.
Word.
Really?
Still The Same; Roll Me Away; Night Moves; Hollywood Nights; We’ve Got Tonight to name but five are pish tunes.
No slouch as a lyricist either.

His latest album is better than might be thought.
Also, Nine Tonight is a great live album
The albums “Seven” and “Smokin OPs” are two of the very finest albums ever recorded. Real hairy arsed rock n roll.
