Some of you may recall Lucas Hare, who used to post on the old Word site. Luke and I know each other in meatworld, and so I happen to know that he and Kerry Shale (another Word alumnus) have been putting together a new fortnightly podcast, called ‘Is It Rolling, Bob? Talking Dylan’.
The format involves discussions with actors, writers and other interesting creative types about Bob Dylan and what he means to them, and the first one, featuring David Hepworth (oh yes, another Word alumnus) is out now on Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes Podcasts) and Podbean:

The second episode, with David Morrissey, will be out on Monday next week:
In next week’s podcast episode, we talk to @davemorrissey64 about Bob Dylan and the music that has punctuated his life. Available to download on Monday October 8th. Subscribe so you don’t have to remember. https://t.co/ULYMdonvoI pic.twitter.com/7kDw2ZA9XK

They have several recorded and ready to go – Kenneth Cranham, Barb Jungr, Jon Canter, Paul Morley – and many more booked in the next few weeks. Happy listening!

David Morrissey off the telly?
Kenneth Cranham the mighty thespian?
Cooool!
Lando Cakes says
I enjoyed the first one. Liked David Hepworth’s point about songwriting not being the same as poetry because – essentially – the use of words involves a compromise.
Twang says
I remember Lucas well. Thoughtful bloke. Actor, wasn’t he? Wish he was here.
Leicester Bangs says
Yes, he is. He was in a James Bond film!
Baron Harkonnen says
Hepworth doing the first? Can give that a miss then but will be in for No.2.
Neela says
Was thinking exactly that…
Leicester Bangs says
Oh, really? What’s the problem with David Hepworth? I thought he was really good.
Moose the Mooche says
He started the Word blog which has, in effect, led to us all wasting our lives.
See Mr Lennon’s opinion of Walter Raleigh.
Neela says
He just seems slightly full of himself, but I could be wrong.
Baron Harkonnen says
He, Hepworth, what’s the problem with him? For starters I don’t like him. He’s so full of shyte/himself that he really believes what he says. Which is a load of bollocks. Oh and anything he has to say regarding Sir Bobness of Dylan will be completely worthless. Did I say I don’t like him. Now that other fella he started The Word with, I like him. Get him on to give a chat on Zimmie.
Twang says
I don’t mind him but I’m fairly sure his oft repeated assertion that The Beatles were underrated was originally a comment from Bob Geldof. Amateurs borrow, pro’s steal as they say.
Moose the Mooche says
Well, DH following the Beatles comment with “Fock the address!” is something of a giveaway.
Mike_H says
To quote the ol’ Hepcat himself, from Word Podcast 93*, responding to some overly-earnest griping on the original Word Blog, “Lighten Up!”
*Just so happens I was listening to that this past afternoon.
April ’09, a relatively short one featuring just Hep and Frazer Lewry, because everyone else had buggered off home for the Easter weekend.
Baron Harkonnen says
Never listened to them.

meatworld?
hubert rawlinson says
The real world as opposed to the electronic world.
Moose the Mooche says
And an app.
Someone told me.
Anybody see the Bears game? What a game.
Mousey says
I thought it was great, despite DH telling a few stories we’ve heard before (“man keeps trying to TALK to me!” – actually a great story).
Mousey says
Actually that’s wrong – it’s “man keeps asking me questions”
Lando Cakes says
You’ve got to do the voice though.
Junior Wells says
Like Heppers esp his cogent argument on why people who say Dylan can’t sing are full of shit *
*not his actual words.
He writes very well and knows a lot. Can’t for the life of me understand the resentment. Oh! He might have an ego ! Can’t survive in media without one.
