I know that there are a few Blue Aeroplanes fans among the Afterworders so I thought I would let you know that Amazon has “Access All Areas”, a live CD + DVD of the Blue Aeroplanes at the Town & Country Club in 1992, at a pre-release price of £4.99 plus delivery. It is due for release on 29 June.
As the blurb says: “includes highlights from albums ‘Swagger’ and ‘Beatsongs’, a veritable cast of thousands on stage including ever-present dancer Wojtek Dmochowski.”
What the blurb does not say is that I was there. Mine is on order, so I will soon be scanning the DVD to see if I can see my younger self!
Ace, ta. I saw that tour at the Cambridge Junction.
Bargain, I’ll have one of those. Thanks for pointing it out.
Hurrah!!! I’ve been listening to TBA a lot recently. I blooming love them.
Just over 25 years ago, my 24 year old self danced to this – the first dance for me and my brand new husband. We’re no longer married but still lifelong chums and music fans.

That’s great. I love “Swagger” and “Your Ages” is one of my favourites … ever.
Is this the gig when they were supported by AHouse and Green on Red? If so then I was there too.
I saw them at the Bristol Bierkeller, after Swagger ben released, but I’m not sure if it was this tour or an earlier one. When I saw them, I’m pretty sure the support was Galaxie 500 – who were ace.
Great band, I`ve always looked out for new releases by the Planes, I`ve had this on order for a few weeks now.
Good work Pajp for alerting the massive -something I failed to do.
Was the gig televised at the time on ITV, sponsored by McEwan’s lager?
One of the final gigs by The Bible was broadcast thus. ~15 years ago I was at the BBC and managed to track down the transmission mastertape for Boo Hewerdine. At the time (pre-desktop editing and recordable DVD) the production costs were too high and nowt came of it.
Ive had the good fortune to have as a good friend over the years one of the early members of the BAs – Richard Bell. Brilliant musician and has contributed to all of my own albums. He’s very modest about his background and once mentioned in passing that Michael Stipe sang bvs on one of their early songs – I think REM were quite influenced by them.
My own personal favourite album though is Beat Songs (sorry Richard) – with the brilliant ‘Jack Leaves and Back Spring’
