Yes, here you can have as many goes as you like. It’s where I honed my craft as a young artist, developing the skills I needed before feeling confident enough to show my work in public.
It’s 7am here. I actually sleep a great deal. I usually go to bed very early. I try to have about nine hours in bed, thus guaranteeing at least eight hours sleep. Plus an hour’s siesta after lunch. Though, having said that, I am not the lazy feck some might mistakenly assume. For though I am undeniably a workshy fop, my morning is devoted to beach (if weather nice, which I think today will be) or gym/pool if not.
I merely asked because during some of my recent sleepless nights I can’t help but notice you’re “active”. Not that I’m stalking you or anything (by the way, your garden’s looking nice)
Now, to be clear, there are no rules to art and symmetry is not always the best option. Having said that, if you had just moved that black in the second line one to the right and put a third black in the third line, I think that could have been a masterpiece. As it is… meh.
Absolutely brilliant. I see you as my protege. The only one here who is taking this seriously.
And I now noticed you did a practise one earlier. A sort of rough sketch to prepare for your definitive work. And it’s a delightful little piece in itself! If only the others here shared your level of commitment. (And talent!)

I was just reflecting on how dull the previous Wordle threads were, prior to my stewardship. And now we even have what looks like an apatosaurus. In burnt sienna. Life doesn’t get much better than this.
I’d never heard of Fuselli and would have assumed he was a type of pasta, but my computer skills have revealed he was actually a very brilliant artist, so I thank you for exposing my ignorance. In front of everyone.
My left leg is currently swathed in bandage: I am quarter Mummy, three quarters Rock God (possibly, where possibly = not a chance in Hades).
Nurse, more drugs!
Oh Hubes. I’d be the first to recognise your truly outstanding talent as a Wordle artist, but using emojis and colour-coding blobs and miniature traffic symbols looks to me like you’ve abandoned Wordle art to instead play about a bit with Microsoft Word, producing something which, quite frankly, any fool with Microsoft Word could do. Had you left just the last line I would have been impressed. As it is, I find your title sadly apt.
Very nice indeed. It conjures up all sorts of images in my mind: a well, a ditch, a picket line, a sarcophagus, an unrelenting tirade against the vacuousness of modern celebrity, a plough, a streaker, a balustrade. And more. Much more.
Your compositions always look strikingly similar to me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I would say the same of Rothko, Mondrian and even Turner.
You look the same as three famous painters who look completely different from each other? I’d ask for photographic evidence but you’d think I was stalking (again)
All Members of the Afterword Wordle Society held a meeting last night (it was rammed in there let me tell you) and it was unanimously decided that you, Gary, are now Official Curator of the Afterword Wordle Thread for evermore.
Just think, before you took over it was all “Poor Mike, he’s failed again” or “Do you think The Baron cheats?”.
Just look at us now! We love you, Gary!
Thank you. I feel very proud and humbled that my stewardship of the thread is almost certainly the main motivation for @junior-wells in taking up Wordle art as a full-time hobby (and with such passion!). But at the same time I’m saddened that @h-p-saucecraft has seemingly abandoned what might have potentially been a fairly promising Wordle art career for that very same reason.
Whilst I thrive, positively thrive, on responsibility, I would eventually like to pass the baton of liability on to someone less confused once we have reached the bottom of the internet.
HP too busy on his Foam Island regaling his many (?) followers with tales of obscure hippy bands from the sixties to take part in Wordle Art. No, Gary – only you will do. Only you.
ps if not you then Paul will have to step in: let’s hope he’s not recording a new album or saving the world …
⬛⬛🟦⬛⬛ ⬅️ I dreamt this word last night.
⬛🟦⬛⬛🟦 ⬅️ Oh oh, I thought things aren’t going well.
🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧 ⬅️ However as Grace Slick sang “When logic and proportion, have fallen sloppy dead, have a bloody good guess”
How’s that Lodey? 5 below par on the trot including a 2! Hope that open bottle of Red doesn’t go off ; – ))
You failed to appear before The Stewards yesterday.
And contrary to common belief, being incarcerated in a French hospital does not mean an endless supply of red wine and foie gras.
As Gary says, a knee replacement which, in France, means up to a month in kine learning to walk again. And the kine people are all sadistic bastards who love seeing me cry. Bastards!
Thanks, Baron, for the kind words
The Baroness has had the same op Lodey, right leg. She’s waiting for a date for her right knee. It’s not very comfortable she tells me but worth it in the end.
Hey Lodey, nearly forgot to tell you, another below par today. That’s 6 on the trot!
Can’t sleep tonight (the pain, the pain) so 3am Wordle.
I play Proper Wordle, no adieu or audio or stare for me. No sirree, why not try zebra?
A workmanlike, some might say noble, bogey.
Wordle Bot approved my play, “distinctive and logical” . I prefer “magnificent”
I’ve noticed that the bot often plays a second word that has no relation to the first, even if it’s already got some greens. I can’t ever quite bring myself to do this.
If you play the “difficult” version such skullduggery is quite rightly not allowed those on here who play difficult have a * next their score. I don’t play difficult but, of course I’m a gentleman, I abide by those rules
Bots aren’t gentlemen (the great lost Wodehouse novel). That’s what I mean really. It seems excessively devil-may-care to waste letters you’ve already found.
Say you use STARE in the first line and two of those letters are correct.
Some charlatans then ignore the correct letters and enter, for instance, GHOUL. If any of those letters are correct then obviously combining those with the first line-corrects gives a fair chance of a birdie or par.
I am certain nobody in the Afterword Wordle Club would stoop so low
This is all very confusing and, frankly, unlikely to help anyone. What I would say is this: Don’t be misled into feeling that symmetry is key. Depict what you know. Use the colours in a way that reflects the world around you. As your skill develops, introduce new patterns, not without caution, but always with more thought given to self-expression than aesthetic appeal.
Haven’t got the powers of concentration to give the new movie a go. On yours and many others recommendation I certainly shall when my powers return (somewhere in January 23).
Nice one today, by the way
With well over 272 comments on this thread, I think it’s time for me to relinquish the reins and hand over the baton of liability to a new, younger, more well-endowed aspirant Wordler. My time has come. My fingers are gnarled and warted, my mind no longer as sharp as cling film.
As curator incumbent, I believe it my duty, nay honour (but really duty), to nominate my successor. That withstanding, I hereby nominate Paul Hews(t)on. As is customary in some backward countries, I’ll start the new thread and then leave the cleaning up to him. I might continue to contribute or I might not, as whimsy and decrepitude dictate.
Good luck and God bless, @paul-hewston*
*He spelt it wrong, not me. Either a rather risible attempt at subterfuge or the man’s a fool. You decide.
That episode of The Tomorrow People fair shook you up, eh? I’ve sent it to Putin too. I hope it’ll make him come to his senses as swiftly as you have. Though I doubt it. He lacks your wisdom and integrity.
Post this over there, over there!! Over there! Are you blind? Over there! It’s called “Gary can’t be arsed”. Over there!
(I sense no shame, Gary, no shame. Yet you will forever be remembered as The Man Who Sold The World. People will turn their backs as you pass and whispers of “Him that broke the sacred Wordle” will abound. As for Bono Boy, he might as well not exist)
I was never a Kray brother. Not really. Though Violet Kray is buried in the same cemetery as my Nan (true fact).
The thread you’re looking for has (rather confusingly, I admit) the words ‘Brand New Wordle Thread‘ somewhere in its title.

*red-faced blokes in vile pinstripes bang desks*
Cheat?!? You inbred wino!
Envy is the feeling you have when you wish you could have the same thing or quality that someone else has.
`Gradually he began to acknowledge his feelings of envy towards the Baron.`
`He gazed in a mixture of envy and admiration at the beauty of the Baron`s Wordle.`
Synonyms: covetousness, spite, hatred, resentment, jealousy, bitterness, malice, ill will, malignity, resentfulness.
Pity the inbred wino. Have you tried using a corkscrew when you don’t have opposable thumbs?
Agreed – the wordle world salutes you.
Only you.

Apparently not so long ago French hospitals forced you to have a glass of red wine with every meal (including brekkie). Them days are gone
Back in the 50s/60s the health advice from the French government was no more than a litre of wine a day.
To be fair, average life expectancy was 43 at the time

I’ve noticed that the bot often plays a second word that has no relation to the first, even if it’s already got some greens. I can’t ever quite bring myself to do this.
If you play the “difficult” version such skullduggery is quite rightly not allowed those on here who play difficult have a * next their score. I don’t play difficult but, of course I’m a gentleman, I abide by those rules
Bots aren’t gentlemen (the great lost Wodehouse novel). That’s what I mean really. It seems excessively devil-may-care to waste letters you’ve already found.
I’ve no idea what anyone’s talking about.
@Gary twas thus everso.
Ditto
