As expected, an expanded version of the Album of the Year* is to be released before the end of 2016, and it looks like it’ll be a three or even four disc set. Should keep Santa busy.

Of course I will purchase the instant it is available.
The only problem is applying the six listen rule. Say 40 minutes a disc, that’s 2 hours for three discs. Six listens equals 12 hours. If there are four discs and each last an hour, I’m looking at a whole day without sleep!
Well one of the discs will be the original album, but I see your point!

Do what they do on tech reviews, a ‘hands on’ review with first impressions then an in-depth one when you’ve had immersed yourself fully.
I for one can’t stop imagining tigger immersing himself fully.
In that case, “all the extras are superb but add nothing to the perfection of the original album.”
Can we get this one out of the way in August rather than December? Despite my own indifference (to the album not Bowie) can we all just agree today that Blackstar is the Album of 2016?

Heard one track on 6 music which was ace. I believe they are playing (streaming?) the new album at midnight on Thursday.
Could well be the only new album I get this year.

Looks like we’re not getting an expanded Blackstar after all. The three unreleased tracks from the Blackstar sessions, plus the title track, are to be tacked on to the Lazarus cast recordings instead: http://www.davidbowie.com/news/lazarus-cast-album-pre-order-live-now-56266
