Am currently putting my socks back on after having them knocked off by ‘Vulnicura Strings’ a “stripped back” version of her album from earlier this year. The same vocal takes, made more intimate and raw by their isolation but with added string arrangements and something called a Viola Organista that Di Vinci designed.
I have noticed the absence of the original album from the usual tedious “best of year” lists, maybe it’s release at the start of the year made reviewers who probably got copies early forget about Bjork (as Eminem once sang). I think it’s her most personal and nakedly emotional album to date and if you’re of a similar mind then I’d check this “acoustic” album out

Thanks for the tip – looking forward to hearing that. the album will certainly be on my list, and whilst missing from some I’ve seen, it is actually Number One on the Rough Trade list.

This is really good- thanks. Definitely one of my albums of the year, too.

That does sound interesting. I will check it out.
A voice and strings is a very powerful combination. I saw Swedish songwriter Joel Alme here recently and for one part of the set he sung with a string quartet. Magic!
Here’s Ane Brun with that very quartet.
