In case you aren’t already aware, this was created by Pamela Adlon [Californication] and Louis CK [stand up comedian and infamous masturbator] and it follows the life of single mum and actor/voiceover artist Sam Fox [Adlon] and her three daughters – oh, and mother [Celia Imrie] who lives just down the hill.
CK is no longer involved in the show, so rest easy on that score, but Adlon continues to write and direct in this fourth season. It was always a must watch in our house, I love Pamela Adlon, and this show has been a delight from the start, but this season it has kicked up a gear [or three]. Everything has got better, the writing, acting, production and direction, launching this into must see territory, right now it’s the best show on TV.

Binged the first two seasons a couple of years ago but haven’t caught up on more recent episodes. I agree on its excellence. Recommend.
Cheers madfox, it’s always heartening to know one is not alone 🙂
Panela Adlon is always wonderful.
It is quite similar to Louie that some episodes might be downbeat and little happens. But that is part of their appeal.
I am glad it has a decent time slot on a mainstream channel., so hopefully more people can discover it.
This is on season 4?? Wow. I remember watching the very first episode, thinking it looked good and I should keep up with it. But then I seemed to just miss it and forget about it. Where has it been on?
A little niche channel I like to call BBC2 😉
I think I’ve heard of that.
Don’t take my word for it [as if!]
Rotten Tomatoes = 100%;
Indiewire = Better things remains a perfect television series;
Vulture = Season 4 is a rare and precious gift.
