Amusing beer quiz on the BBC’s website. 20 perfectly plausible names for real ales, but which are real and which are made up.
I managed a distinctly average 12 and can admit to having heard of hardly any of them.
Enjoy.

somewhat remarkably I got 15 out of 20; ‘remarkably’, because precisely one of these was not a complete guess.
12/20 here. Mostly wild guesses.
13 – I had a bad run of 5 wrong answers in a row in the middle.
15/20 – all guesses – I’m pleased!
8/20 – all guesses – I’m gutted!
15/20 and I had actually heard of only 1 (and then got that wrong!!)
12/20.
Went in confident that I’d’ve at least drunk a couple of them and ended up conceding that I clearly have a long way to go.
12/20
Poor effort from duco
But I’ve got a good excuse.
I don’t drink beer.
The last beer I had was sometime in 1987. No, it’s true.
10 / 20 – all guesses.
14 / 20
Some I’m sure I’ve drunk (or at least seen). Others were complete guesses.
Adds weight to my belief that brewers spend just as much time brewing as they do making up daft names.
“Badger’s Furry Pocket may not be real, but does sound like a euphemism for something.
And Moose Drool … has the AWs favourite double entendre merchant gone into the world of beer?
Must be something Mini said…
He wouldn’t be the first person I’ve driven to drink.
17/20. Obviously all the time I’ve spent in pubs was worth it. Only one I’d heard of was …SPOILER ALERT… Wonkey Donkey.
If I had all the money I’ve spent on drink, I’d spend it on drink.
Obviously, later this evening I’ll be opening a nice bottle of wine…
13, all guesses.
My fave of any I know is one I had in Brooklyn. Can’t remember the brewery, but the beer was called “You never take me anywhere nice…”
