This popped up between Christmas and New Year on the tax dodgers site, and I think it was on HMV too. I ordered it but it then disappeared quickly, but I see it is on again at £39.99 for the mega 6CD edition, down from around £120. God knows where they are shipping it from, but it should arrive on Thursday. I have waited patiently to get this, so can’t wait!

I have the Sunflower/Surf’s Up one. It’s great, but I never play it.
Why not? If you don’t like the Beach Boys or their music, why did you buy it?
Both of these sets have really good programming – they’re a joy to listen to, from start to finish, one disc at a time. It’s not like other sets where you get a bunch of lo-fi demos stuck at the end…
The once-logical link between buying music and actually liking it seems to have gone for some people. An alarming number of BTL comments on the SDE site are from blokes who routinely buy – and give often extensive houseroom to – expensive sets by artists they clearly don’t like.

All those dreadful old Mantovani etc albums you see in charity shops are totally worthless now but at least somebody liked them once.

So many box sets, so little time to play them – never mind give them the deep dive listen they deserve
I love the Beach Boys, but I have so many other box sets gathering dust that I am beginning to even resist solid bargains for artists that I love.
I don’t buy box sets for artists that I don’t like
I just got the 10 disc Who’s Next box set for 50 Euro, that’s going to take me months to get through. Prince’s Diamonds and Pearls also needs to be opened at some point

It was some Finnish retailer, I read about it on the Hoffman forum. I should have mentioned it here and I apologise, but by the time I ordered they were out of stock and it was backordered. My assumption was that it would never arrive, but a few days before Christmas a massive package was delivered to my nearby post office, didn’t even have to pay customs charges.
Now 149 Euro. Not bad I think. 1 left! @Vulpes-Vulpes
