Quite possibly I’m the only person in the country who hates them. Put it this way, I’d like to vote Labour but the idea of FOUR more Bank bloody Holidays makes me want to vote Lib Dems.
It’s one of those odd non intuitive things. Give me a day off during the week and I’m perfectly happy catching up on chores, reading and listening to music, content in the knowledge that everyone else is working. Bank holidays, especially the coming one because the Light has to go to work, often take on the faintly depressing air of a Sunday afternoon.
New Pirates of the Caribbean tomorrow (we love all of them so the new one is an event for us, OOAA). Iron Maiden at the O2 on Sunday, managed to pull some strings and get seat upgrades. My son is REALLY excited about this although he thinks we’re still on level 4, row ZZ rather than level 1. Monday is my wife’s birthday. We’re having proper afternoon tea out with cake on tiered stands and sandwiches with the crusts cut off.
I’m with @anton, this is about Delays. When the sun comes out, Faded Seaside Glamour is never far away. Singer and guitarist, Greg Gilbert has stage 4 bowel cancer. He is just 39 years old and has 2 children under the age of 3.
We’ve just arrived in Liverpool after the sweatiest train from London to see John Cale do the first VU LP tonight.
Checked into our amazing hotel room, opened the window and the soundcheck wafted in.
Listening to all All Tommorow’s Parties as a type and we’ve heard I’ll Be Your Mirror and What Goes On so far.
Beezer! On Sunday, Channel Four is starting the already acclaimed show The Handmaid’s Tale, and on Wednesday – finalement – Series 3 of Fargo drops on the U.K. Top hole drama on terrestrial tv!
Blur – Bank Holiday
Jinx! I had that idea.
Usually someone else gets here first

Apropos of nothing in particular this started as more about love for the Delays than Bank Holidays but thunderstorms here we come.

Wanderlust makes me so happy. It has also been known to make me weep, especially since the news about Greg became known. I bloody love this song.
