Bandcamp are waiving their fees on all sales today (and on the first Friday of the next 2 months, as well). So if you’d like to help artists, please get on over there – they will get a little bit more from your purchases today

And not forgetting music venues. Cambridge’s The Portland Arms is having to pay full rent, despite no custom, so local musicians have put out a fund-raising album.
I’m on this (don’t worry, you can’t hear me, I didn’t play anything – I just supplied the tea and biscuits) and have waived my ‘royalties’ (I was hoping one day someone would buy me a pint).

Yep it’s a really good initiative. Worth looking at the Bandcamp page and watching the scrolling thing showing all the sales – it’s quite heartwarming. Obviously paying for downloads was considered terribly anachronistic before Cov19 but seems this can still generate dosh for artists. The general gist of it is chuck some money toward your favourite bands and artists. Some of them put special releases out, but otherwise search for your fave artists or have a browse for something new and see what you can find. I’ve bagged the new Lanterns on the Lake album. some new stuff from Vanishing Twin, a live recording from Dutch Uncles, early archive recordings from Lone, and a set of cover versions by Spotlight Kid – like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE_cYQZvtTU
