I heard this on 6Music yesterday. It’s rather good. I’m not aware of much else that they’ve done. Any recommendations?
Too Slow Too Disco….again
Last year someone (forgive me, I forget who) turned me on to a great compilation of obscure West Coast/Yacht Pop from the 70’s and 80’s called Too Slow To Disco. Superb stuff for a lazy summers day.
Well there is a volume two in the offing. Topped and tailed by two well known names (Hall & Oates and Michael Nesmith) the rest of the track list is new to me. Hopefully it will be as good as the last one. More here: http://tooslowtodisco.com
Studio Ghibli on Film4
For those of you who love animated films Film4 are showing a season of Studio Ghibli films starting this Saturday with Spirited Away. I’ll be recording a few of these.

AOR Disco
After the thread about AOR that the UK didn’t get, I thought some of the Massive might like this site. From the people that brought you the Too Slow To Disco compliation here are loads of mixes and re-edits of classic 70’s and 80’s AOR. Smoother than a smooth thing that’s very smooth indeed. Not ‘arf!
Lux Lisbon
A friend sent me this. Like a cross between the Killers, Manics and The Clash. Angry young people. It’s not half bad.
Red68 on Redbubble
Hi. I’m blowing my own trumpet here. I have several designs up on Redbubble.com. Feel free to have a browse. If you buy something I’ll be your best bud!

Let’s play another game
Simply this: I’ll start with a line from a song. All you have to do is follow it up with another lyric that makes sense as a follow on. It can be from any style, any genre, any era but must keep the “story” flowing. Try not to repeat the same song or line. If you want to put the song and artist in brackets you may do so (let’s keep the pedants at bay…). So, to begin:
“You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met you…”
Comrades….
This popped up as a reply to one of my tweets. Don’t know if its’s legit, a hoax or wishful thinking, but oh….if only.

Podcasts what I has discovered.
I listen to a lot of podcasts. There are the perennial favourites such as Kermode and Mayo, The Football Ramble and Danny Baker, but I have also discovered a few new ones which I find rather good and you might too.
First up is WTF with Marc Maron (http://www.wtfpod.com/). An American comedian, he interviews all manner of people in his garage (everyone from fellow comedians to Richard Linklater and St. Vincent.). Some are a bit hit and miss (and I could lose his guitar playing at the end), but on the whole they are great, informative interviews, well worth a listen.
Next we have the British equivalent, sort of, which is The Comedian’s Comedian (http://www.comedianscomedian.com/) wherein Stuart Goldsmith interviews comedians about their craft. Again very interesting stuff if you like this kind of thing.
Finally two by American comedian Greg Proops (who you may remember from Whose Line Is It Anyway). His Smartest Man In The World Podcast is savage, erudite, highly political and very funny (http://www.gregproops.com/blog/smartest-man-in-the-world-podcast/). He also does a separate Film Club podcast, where he screens a favourite film of his at a cinema in LA and talks about the film beforehand (although this frequently goes off on » Continue Reading.
I’ve lost my Capital
Now I’m sure I had a cap W. Where did that go? Admin help?
Is it just me?
I’m usually viewing the site on an iPad and to be honest I’m not over enamoured of the “mobile” version of the site. Just me or anyone else finding it a bit “meh”?
