I’ve just done my Euro2016 predictor, which, cleverly inserts the last 16, 8, 4 and the big 2, following the first round scores.

And ofcourse, France will beat Portugal 2-1, in a hotly contested final.

And England will lose 2-1 to France in the Quarters.

Three middle aged music lovers playing all their favourite stuff and waxing lyrical about it – why, that’s something I’m sure almost anyone here can imagine doing. I’ve mentioned this before, but fellow AWorder @Raymond and I are lucky enough to work at a community radio station in Glasgow, where we get to do just that. We record with another guy, as the PList and are starting to branch out into podcasting our shows. We’ve just done a Bowie show and thought it might be of interest here.

And, there will be plenty more where that came from. Which may or may not be a good thing…

Hi AW chums.

I know that HJHM is our ‘in acronym’ for the Beatles. I’ve tried and tried to work it out, but I can’t. Not wishing to own up, I decided to google it up. I’m pretty sure my AW chums don’t mean what Google tells me HJHM is – a one piece, heavy duty joist hanger.

I might be daft, but even I know the Beatles were a four piece.

Can someone please put me out of my misery and let me back in the gang… It’s rubbish being the one that doesn’t get it ❤️

On December 21st 2015, I’ll celebrate my 50th birthday. One of my chums had the terrific idea of posting her top 50 songs, one each day, as she counted down to her 50th birthday earlier this year.

I could never choose a top 50. I think I’d even struggle to choose a top squillion. But it is a great idea. So I’m taking the opportunity to chart my life so far – a blistering soundtrack that instantly connects me to a life well lived, filled with happy, happy memories.

I’ll be making 50 posts between now and then. Sometimes just one song. Sometimes an A side and a B side. Sometimes a few tracks from an album. Sometimes an artist. Sometimes a genre. But every time, something that’s a significant part of my life in music.

I’ve had a pretty tough week. I’m not alone in this Afterword chums. I can see from the blog that many of us are dealing with stuff. I guess we’re merely a small, but extremely cool, witty and knowledgeable part of life’s great tapestry so it figures.

Anyway – now I’m home, with a glass of Australian Shiraz and listening to a song I can’t get enough of.

It’s like a musical meditation, I immediately feel better. I blooming love Dawes.

I’m weekending in Switzerland’s capital city of Bern, visiting my big brother, who works for the multi-national company 3M. I’m finding it easy to love this part of the world. I’m sitting on the balcony, overlooking the Bernese Alps, contemplating my visit to Wankdorf stadium today to see the Young Boys of Bern and one of my favourite songs comes on the radio. I’d forgotten Justin drops the F word. My eyebrows lift until my niece informs me they have no censoring of song lyrics. I’m chatting with my sister in law and learning about how people live here and their relationship with the state. I hardly know anything, but, what I do know is, I want to know more. I think I like it here. A lot.
