Comedian Sean Lock has died at 58. Very, very funny man. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-58254859
I discovered this diverting little site which attempts to statistically quantify how music we think of as culturally all-pervasive inevitably fades with generational memory.
It doesn’t reveal anything we (other than Beatles obsessives) didn’t already realise – but the quiz is a bit of fun, especially if you force the kids to sit down and insist they try it.
Sad to discover that co-founder of Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias, the late 70’s answer to the Bonzos, and a key figure of the Manchester punk scene died yesterday at only 60.
He later became a sort of Ivor Cutler figure, writing several witty and erudite music books – in particular on Dylan – and becoming a senior tutor of Film Studies at the Uni of Salford. His biography of the Albertos, “When We Were Thin”, is a hoot.
Yet another gone I’m afraid.

Clean Up Woman remained her biggest song, and very fine it is too. But I love this one also.
His Divine Holiness the Zim has released his first new self-penned song for eight years via his Twitter account, in a “keep safe” message to fans.
“Murder Most Foul” is about the JFK assassination and was recorded “a while back”. Get yourself a drink of something before you sit down to listen; at 17 minutes, it’s substantial.
Verdict? Not a masterwork, but not bad at all.
And his voice sounds perfectly ok, before you ask.
I suppose this may well be of interest to some here. Not me though, I’m one of the cool kids.
Happily still with us folks, but today is his 93rd birthday…so…well…y’know. I thought a tip of the hat was in order.
A real mensch. Yes, of course The Producers and Blazing Saddles, but his forgotten mid ’60s double act with Carl Reiner was pretty damn good too. Eat a nectarine – it’s the BEST fruit ever made!
