So…..long time hold outs Led Zep, finally cave in to ‘the Man’ is allowing Black Dog to be used to promote the Sony PlayStation4 game ‘Destiny’.
Conservatively, how much do we think it cost them to get Perce and Page to buckle? Seven figures?
And why? After 40 odd years holding off, why now?
Probably one of four bands where the decimation of physical product hasn’t really affected them.

Did anyone catch this on Sky last night?
What a wonderful documentary. Weller giving the most relaxed and insightful interview I’ve ever seen or read.
All three members take part (though never together) and all the important people around the group’s immediate circle and some engaging talking heads and super fans – Vic Coppersmith-Heaven now looks like Arthur Brown’s younger brother.
Great archive footage too. Stuff not usually seen as Sky have to trawl through the Beat Club and Rockpalast vaults without easy access to TotP or Whistle Test snippets.
Go watch. It really is great!

Chewing this over………basically on the basis that a friend recently purchased a lovely second hand Roland X6. The “I Want One” gene then kicked in…
I got to Grade 5 practical and Grade 6 theory (Piano) when I was 14 and then in a typical teenage flourish, jacked it in thinking I knew it all and Paul Simonon looked far cooler wielding a bass than I ever could with a keyboard. So I became a bass player – tabs and “ear” only though!
So the question here is, “Is 45 too old to re-program the brain after a hiatus of 30 years?” – I mean, I love the idea of learning the piano again (my old teacher was Mrs Slattery, a grouchy old Irish lady who used to crack my knuckles with a metal ruler if my wrists were slouching or I was going faster than the metronome) but its a significant investment, not just cost of lessons but in time, with the kids etc. and I wouldn’t want to waste that if I couldn’t get on the ball again!
Anyone else picked a new instrument up recently and ran with it?

After a little bit of advice from the massive on this.
Just purchased a nifty little HP laptop for work on the move – dirt cheap so comes with bugger all internal memory (32GB – most of which has been swallowed to run Windows).
Trying at the moment to install a copy of my desktop’s iTunes onto an external drive which the laptop will automatically “see” when connected via the USB. It’s not having it.
Being a complete technophobe – this is causing me to wail and gnash teeth extensively. Any ideas?
The iTunes and Apple forums are worse than useless.

Aside from Lonesome Street and Ong Ong, it sounds like another Albarn solo album. Same sounds, some slightly downbeat introspection. Not necessarily “a bad thing” but not quite what was expected. Can’t hear much Coxon input there at all.

…or at least on life support….
It’s done well, over 7 years old now – proper old steam powered HDD 80gb classic that seems to lock up of it’s own accord and drain the battery within an hour of a full charge.
Need some advice on a replacement with a similar spec unit (I know Apple don’t make these blighters any more sadly) that would be compatible with Satan’s own iTunes (just too disorganised to sit and convert files from AAC’s to another format) or even the remote possibility of repairing the old chap?
Any advice hugely welcome.
