I’m visiting Madrid with the family next week (7th-11th). We’ll be doing the standard touristy stuff but I was wondering if anyone has any off-grid recommendations along the lines of record shops and music venues. I could probably swing a gig – I hear it’s a bit of a music town. Disappointed to be missing Dan Stuart by a few days but I’ve seen him a few times recently in Glasgow. Rufus W is in town but tickets are prohibitively expensive.
A lot (not all) of you will agree that this is fantastic news.
This is a kind of big deal. Isn’t it?
I saw them on the Steel Wheels tour thinking it would be that last them I’d have the chance. That was 28 years ago.
In February, my Family and I are spending a few days in the Smoke. We’re looking to see School of Rock in the sparkling West End. I liked the movie and my son’s is performing in his school’s version of it next year. My question is re snagging some tickets. Is it worth waiting until we’d down there and trying to get theme when we’re there (for a discounted price) or, given that we’ll need 4, is that a bit risky? What about outlets? Are some better than others? or am I best use the venue’s official box office?
On a similar matter, I have a pass to go out myself to a gig one night. Can someone send a link to a listing of gigs that I can filter my day/ genre. I’ve had a look at the various O2 venues for the nights I’m there but nothing particularly up my street. Or… any recommendation welcome. I’m there from the 11th to the 15th.
Thanks in advance.
Should interest some around here and give people an opportunity to say they cant be arsed with Marc Maron or, indeed, the Boss.
I’m listening now. What a great interviewee. Helps that MM is a fan but not a superfan. He’s not overwhelmed as he was when interviewing Keef or Mick.
Latest in line of a series of big hitting musical guests like Keith Richards, Neil Young, David Crosby. Can’t wait to hear it.
I know there’s not much love for Marc Maron around here but, just so you know, the first 3 seasons are now up on Netflix UK.
This may be good.
I know some people here don’t care for Maron (there are maybe a couple who don’t care for NY) but, more often than not, it’s an interesting Podcast.
I’m saving it for tomorrow’s commute.
I’m looking for some advice.
I’m moving house and the the gaff has a much smaller living room/ parlour/ drawing room/ sitting room than this one. I’m still keen to keep my hi-fi (turntable, amp and speakers) in that room but the floor standing speakers I have will overwhelm it and the cables are going to be a nightmare.
1. I know small modern speakers can pack a punch. Can anyone recommend some – floor standing or bookshelf? The room is 4.8m x4.0m.
2. What about blu tooth speakers? Any good? I’ve only ever seen single ones. Although sounding great – kind of defeats the object of a “stereo”.
Any advice/ recommendations/ chat gratefully received.
