I’ve long held a soft spot for Bebop Deluxe, and I’ve been greatly impressed by what I’ve heard of Bill’s solo work (as mentioned on another thread). The only solo album of his that I actually own is ‘Quit Dreaming And Get On The Beam’. I’m going to invest in ‘Getting The Holy Ghost Across’ and ‘The Love That Whirls’ as a start, and as I’m fully aware what a vast body of superb work the man, as close to a musical genius as anyone else who commonly receives that accolade, and perhaps more, has created. Astonishing. Any suggestions as to Essential Bill would be greatly appreciated. I recently decided to venture much further into Nelsonworld, and I’m so glad I did. One of those truly music life changing/expanding events. This is up there with me discovering Jazz for the first time. The superlative 2011 Bill curated box set ‘The Practice Of Everyday Life’ is temporaily of my price league at the moment, and so over to you any fellow AW Nelsonheads. What should/must I get in the meantime?
