Rush have announced a European tour for next Spring including a small number of UK Shows. I’ve never seen them before (I came to them very late) but have brought a ticket for Manchester. Any thoughts on what to expect?

Jimmy Carter was just before my time, but watched this film on the Sky documentaries channel (available on catch up) and oh my, what a film and man. Fantastic clips and interviews with a range of rock & roll, jazz and country stars and some wonderful live clips. From Dylan to Dizzy Gillespie. If you haven’t seen it, seek it out – you won’t be disappointed. The best music archive film I think I’ve ever seen.

I’ve just set up a new twitter account thingy as gigarchive@gigtickets2.

In it I’ve posted copies of many of my concert tickets going back 30+ years and put a personal memory for each one as to what sticks in my mind the most. They are a mix of punk, rock, indie and more mainstream (so a bit of everything) starting from 1979.

Please feel free to have a browse, post your own tickets, share an experience ….

Most of mine are Midlands based so it would be great to see comments from others who went to the same gigs or maybe another venue on any particular tour.

Ultimately I thought it could be a short and snappy repository for a gigging past.

Blimey – just reading Radio Times (i’m old!) and Channel 5 next Tuesday night –

That’s four straight hours of ‘benefits’ programming. I though that after the last election result ‘benefits’ had lost the war, so is there really any more mileage in this sort of thing?

Last night I went to see the UK Subs (old punk band) in Wolverhampton, the last time I saw them live was back in 1982 at the old Birmingham Digbeth – a gap of 32 years!! As far as I am aware they have never split up and have continued to tour regularly over the years – not really sure why I never went back before now. This got me thinking can anyone beat a gap of 32 years between first seeing a band/artist live, and then going back to see them again?

I could beat it myself if I went to see Gary Numan who is also still touring, I saw him in 1979 but never went back (even though he was great).

Also, the UK Subs lead singer Charlie Harper is now 70 years of age and still punk rocking out with the best of them – Respect!!
