Cheeky Classsics

On the seminal album “Greatest – The Cheeky Girls” There are ONLY THREE songs with the word cheeky in them.

1. Have a Cheeky Christmas 2. Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) 3. Hooray Hooray (It’s a Cheeky Holiday)

In a dark night of the soul I pondered that perhaps other bands could write some cheeky songs to help them out.

I suggest:

1. The Who – Won’t Get Cheeky Again. 2. The Beatles – Let it Be Cheeky. 3. Rod Stewart – Da Ya Think I’m Cheeky?

Alternative Universe Albums

Some of my favourite artists “recently” have been releasing alternative versions of their albums just after the originals release.

St. Vincent released a piano version of MASSEDUCTION called MassEducation.

Mac Richter released Voices 2 just after than Voices.

Both of these are better than the originals IMHO.

Can you think of any more?- they have to be released JUST AFTER the originals or I will flounce the f@ck outta here!!!

Songs With a Literary Bent

e.g: Led Zeppelin – May Dick Lana Del Rey – Lolita Marillion – Grendel Kate Bush – Wuthering Heights (Ms Bush has a few ) Eurythmics – 1984

The Vinyl Countdown

I have aboot 300 hundred vinlys and decided (in a state of delirium, dear reader) to order them by year – yes by YEAR I tell you.

It saves having to decide about that first name / last name Mallarky and what to do with the The’s.

It is a triumph and am so pleased I had to share.

Any alternatives?

Romantic Faux Pas

The section of the Internets is for when you played a record by a “beat combo” in a romantic setting which resulted having the opposite effect with regard to smoochiness.

My terrible, terrible example was when I though some classical music would proffer the desired ambience – my choice for such an occasion was Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture

But NAY – I was unable to compete with the (should have been expected) cannons).

Reader I was SPENT long before their arrival.

TV for the Elderly ATM

Started listening to the album A Little Drop of Poison by Rebekka Bakken (possibly because of the scribes of this here”shakes fist a clouds” parish)

it occurred to me that there are MANY examples of the fairer sex/shes’s that have covered Tom Waits.

Have been grooving’ (ahem) to both Bowies lodger remix (on the A New Career In A New Town set) and the remix of Real Gone album by Tom Waits.

I request other example of remixed albums (but remastered ones will be offered a withering aside).

It’s happened again.You may remember my recent post regarding playing A Kind of Blue by Miles Davis ALL THE WAY THROUGH at 45rpm and not noticing.

Well yesterday I played ALL FOUR sides of Reflections by Brian Eno at 33rpm, instead of the recommended 45rpm.

Reader -I enjoyed it -I can tell you.

Portable Battery Powered Speaker ATM

Doing a canal barge trip between Glasgow and Edinburgh and was wanting to BLAST OUT heavy metal along the way to disturb the locals and Muckle Coos.

Not really- smooth jazz of course.

There isn’t a lot of space and virtually no power so I need something that is easy to carry, is waterproof, battery powered and can be heard outside and hoped that some of the ladies and gentlemen on here might be able to help.
