In a bid to out-bore Twang’s USB drive thread, this morning the door hinges on my Indesit dishwasher snapped off. Time for a replacement. Integrated (we have a cupboard door to put on the front) and not silly money. Suggestions, please.
I’ve just read Ben Watt’s ‘Patient’
Being recently diagnosed with Crohn’s has led me to read lots but most of it has been so gloomy I decided to stop. And then I remembered Ben Watt’s intestinal illness. I’m no EBTG fan but I enjoyed ‘Romany and Tom’, his recent memoir of his parents. It might be 19 years since publication, but ‘Patient – the true story of a rare illness’ is still well worth a read. There’s always someone worse off than you, in this case that someone is Ben Watt, but he comes across as stoical, pragmatic and full of humour. At less than 180 pages, a quick read and well worth a few quid. There’s definitely light at the end of my tunnel. I might go and give his album another listen.
Digital music sales now match physical ones
This is pretty significant for those of us who enjoy a disc and a sleeve. CDs coming through the letterbox will be like buying vinyl was in the early 90’s CD age. Mind you, I did that, too.
White Water
The Slow Show’s debut album arrived on vinyl this afternoon. The kids are in bed. Cans are on. Consider me a pig in shit. I do hope it’s good, I’ve been waiting two and a half years for it…
For Hannah – nothing else to Read More of
There is no more.
What’s wrong with this picture?
If this works, here’s a screen grab of last week’s Midsomer Murders*. It’s from a folk gig in Lower Crosby village hall, a venue with an audience capacity of about 50. Just out of shot are a pair of 18″ subs, below the stacked pair of Marshall 4×12 cabs pictured. And that’s per side, on a stage about 15 feet wide. Don’t these TV people know anything?
* My wife watches it. And I was on sedatives following a surgical procedure. Otherwise I’d have left the room, obviously.
The Slow Show
The release of White Water by The Slow Show has been put back by a week. I’m considering postponing my birthday by 7 days in response. I’ve been waiting for this album since I first did the sound for them in Sep 2012. I’m going to be disappointed, aren’t I?
