The location of my new house means that my morning drive to work takes me through the quite beautiful Eton College. It is so quintessentially English and oozing with history.
As I drive through at 7 am the boys are making their way through the narrow streets to the catering area for their breakfast. Dressed immaculately in their old fashioned uniform with perfectly flopping hair and strong jaws stuck out born with the absolute certainty that the world was made for them. I wonder if it’s a Prime Ministers son or maybe a future PM I let across the zebra crossing. Maybe African royalty mixed with the newly rich of The Golden Square, who knows maybe one of them is the son of a master criminal?
It makes me question my long held Conservative beliefs, but this is not a political thread. These boys have been born into a life of wealth and privilege and know no different, they will enter a world filled with opportunity and power and some will waste it some will put it to good use. The few exceptional ones may even make a real difference, the one truth is that like the rest of » Continue Reading.
Razorlight nearly won the crappest band poll we ran a few months ago, they are one of the most derided bands on the site, their cowboy period was a source of enormous fun, usually Andy Burrows is usually cited as the only good thing to come out of thier existence and Johnny Borrell is undoubtedly a difficult character to warm to… But and its a big but he cannot be all bad when he has come up with something as beautiful as this. I thank my iPod for this little musical surprise. Please allow yourself 3 minutes for this to wash over you, if it helps close your eyes and imagine your favourite artiste performing it Razorlight ” The House”
New album (without banjos) is number 1 on both sides of the Atlantic. I don’t mind them at all but I know they cause real ire in some round here. Surely that many people cant be wrong? This is lovely…….
This may have been done before and it comes of switching radio stations in the car too often (Absolute – Heart I think) but it does make you want to take a look into Ian Browns 80’s record collection. Both great tunes either way….

The most commented list shows number of views as well as comments which is a great addition to the new site. In an idle moment I was looking at the comments per view ratio. The Crappest Band thread which has the highest comments has 7 views per comment and the Miliband Sturgeon one with 75% less comments has 17 views per comment, comfortably the highest ratio of the most commented. So what do we read into that? *Goes back to sleep….
Suddenly seems like a genuine possibility to govern the United Kingdom of which she wants no part. Would Ed jump into bed with her to achieve his lifelong ambition? Of course he would. Would she make his life a misery for allowing him to take her seats for his own ends? Of course she would. What a mess, like a marriage where all the guests at the wedding whisper “it’ll never last”. We’ll be longing for Cameron and Clegg, who are far from perfect, to come back to continue their austerity civil partnership as we stagger back to some dark past waiting for the deputy Prime Minister to choose her moment to break the whole union up that she somehow has a say in. I’m not usually a political animal but this needs sorting. I wish they’d had their way and won independence and left us to at least be masters of our own mess. Oh and what of Farage? In an instant cast as political non-entity as quickly as he became an earthquake. See you on the other side people………..

which presenter would you get rid of next? Tim Lovejoy off the telly and Christian O’Connell off the radio for me. Any producers willing to take a right hand off these two wastes of good oxygen would earn my eternal gratitude. I do realise they can be avoided but they’re still there aren’t they? Getting paid for talking rubbish and laughing at how tremendously funny they are.
XFM, a radio station for the kids with a Vaccines, Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters leaning played “Yellow Submarine” one morning last week and followed it up with a lunchtime “I Am The Walrus”. Both pricked my interest in a way I have never felt about The Beatles before so I may investigate that era a little more, recommendations welcome. Also just as and aside it struck me that “I Am The Walrus” could easily have been a Hendrix tune. Did they adopt Jimis sound or was it vice versa?
Just a thought, survival of the fittest and all that Darwinian stuff doesn’t really apply anymore does it?
