Cricket
Monty Panesar has become the latest cricketer to be rested because of ‘issues’. Now these may not be of a mental nature but could it be that performing sport at the highest level for 6 or 7 hours a day for 5 days just screws you up?
Feeling out of touch?
For anyone feeling they’re somewhat less that ‘down’ with The Yoof, here’s a handy list of bands in order of popularity. Over 2,000 names to drop at your next Shoreditch Peruvian fondue soiree.
Popularity where and with whom I have absolutely no idea.

It’s worth noting that in a kind of ‘not even the best drummer in the Beatles’ fashion those perennial ‘groove progressive metal’ purveyors Artificial Construct have precisely no fans at all.
It’s also rather a good list to practice your John Peel impersonation to.
And that was Sever The Albatross TMF etc.
Favourite sandwich
The lowcooking thread made me think…
Try peanut butter and cucumber on brown bread. Preferably washed down with a glass of cold milk.
Air Miles
Is it possible to book your flight miles to someone elses frequent flyer account? If it is would it be a good idea to start a thread where people who are flying on a one off flight might offer their miles to someone elses account and receive them back from other people? I only really have one account I care about miles on but often fly with other airlines. Any ideas welcome.
Building in speakers
Opinions please… if I were to position stereo speakers on shelves within a hollow studwork wall (playing out through acoustic fabric covers). Do you think I should surround them with insulation (i.e. an insulated open fronted box within the hollow wall) or would this have a deadening/muffling effect? The alternative being to just put them on shelves (with isolating feet) and let them play out and dissipate any sound within the hollow wall too.
Or is this just a bit too ‘precious’ for a pair of thousand pound speakers and 54 year old ears?
What do you call…?
That portico thingy over a cinema or theatre entrance that has the nights events and start times? The one where letters are inserted into an illuminated screen? Like the Faithless album cover (haven’t worked out how to add images…). I need the term for work.
Thanks.
And it’s great to be back 🙂
