As if that wasn’t bad enough, Universal covered it up so well, the story only emerged a few days ago. Not even people in the know seem to have realised how great the losses were until now.

The bass player of Nirvana reckons their masters have gone, R.E.M. are looking into it, lawsuits loom…

It’s a story that seems to have had little coverage in the UK but boy has it hit me.

The music is all in the cloud, but the source of that music is big clunky physical stuff that needs looking after. It’s a big problem, and covering it up doesn’t help.

And of course the UK hasn’t been immune to losses of master tapes by neglect or cavalier treatment.

Time for a National Archive of recorded music?

Wonder if anyone can help. I’m currently doing “Bowibury”(see link), listening to a Bowie album a day this month. I’m plugging any gaps via download purchases from the likes of Google Play and Amazon. There is one big lacuna (vocab. point): the second Tin Machine album, which seems not to be available.

I realise there is probably a reason why it’s deleted, but for the sake of completeness. ..

It’s not on the schedule until next week (see the link for the schedule) but I’m planning ahead. Don’t have a Spotify subscription, but they don’t have it anyway. Available for stupid money on ebay, natch.

Is it on iTunes? Or anyone have any other way of making it available? I’d actually buy a copy if anyone has one going spare.

Evening all.

We attended my wife’s godmother’s funeral yesterday. All pretty fraught due to having to transport elderly frail relatives there and back, but that’s another story. At the do afterwards some photos were passed around of Hazel when young, including this one. Can anyone shed any light on this peculiar bat and what game you played with it? I’ve put this on Facebook too and the best idea so far is that it is for training one to hit in the centre of the bat, but that’s pure guesswork. I’ve found nothing doing a Google search at all.

Any concrete information, with sources, would be appreciated. Or, alternatively, a good sport/cricket forum I could post to. Ta muchly in advance.
