Prior to tonight’s games Premier League teams have won one match out of six played. What`s going on? Have we got the best league or are we the best at saying we have. My view is the standard of football played by the `Top 5` clubs in the Premier League has been declining over the last 6 years. Over-rated players playing for over-rated teams bigged up by Sky, Talk Sport(Shite?) and now BT. Most expensive league to watch football in the world. I can`t wait for when these super clubs are scrambling for TWO Champions League places, because if results continue to be poor that`s all the Premier League will get. No matter how the Manchester clubs do tonight we are no longer premier.

According to Donald America`s problems are over because if elected “America is going to be great again”, how this is going to happen Mr. Trump was a little vague in his interview with Scott Pelley on CBS News `60 Minutes` (link hopefully provided). On immigration Donald informed Mr. Pelley that America will build a wall, “A Great Wall” with a “tremendous, beautiful, wide open door” and that illegal immigrants will be deported in “a very humane way, a nice way” “and they`re going to be happy”. The Dylan thread got me thinking about who The Massive consider to be the best songwriter of the last 150 years. Me I reckon it`s Dylan, followed by, well I`m undecided. So I`m going to ask you all to nominate your top 5 songwriters and if you wish explain why. I`ll do mine later. I will give this until midnight Sunday then take a few days to collate a list, yes another list, so list haters do not need to look any further. Although I hope you do.

What the heck is going on? This young man with literally the world at his feet seems intent on `blowing` his career. What is it with young British men and women, whether it`s getting their kit off on the top of sacred mountains or as demonstrated by young footballers being pictured sprawled out in the road while on holiday. I know we may have discussed this before but I really fear for the future of this nation.

The postman brought me Ronnie Lane`s `One For The Road` LP today. When i took the LP from the package I looked at the reverse cover of the LP sleeve, it had a picture of Ronnie`s `Passing Show` vehicles in a semi circle around his farm. As I looked at it I had a lump in my throat thinking back to Ronnie`s illness and how he always had the music in his heart, the Passing Show tour, the music he made throughout his life. What music or things associated with music make you pause for thought for whatever reason? I haven`t got the hang of posting pictures but hopefully Ronnie`s song about his babysitter will be attached.

I`ve always loved the song “When You Walk In The Room”, especially for it`s use of the word `nonchalant`, I don`t know why but that word jumped out at me when I first heard the song way back in the `60`s. Every time I hear the song it brings a smile and a feeling of calm. I give you hopefully,The Searchers version, my favourite of this great Jackie DeShannon song.

A similar thread was posted quite a while back by Colin H I think but it was late at night and mid-week so few people viewed it. So here is my story which I posted then of which I was reminded when talking to an old friend from my mining days last night.

Here goes; When I worked in the mines the NUM ran a joint Absenteeism Committee with the management and if you were a regular absentee you would be required to go before the committee to explain the reason for your absenteeism. Roll up Trevor who had been having lots of time off, Trevor was asked why and he answers “Because I can`t get to sleep at night because my Mam and Dad are always arguing and this makes me oversleep for my shift.” The committee ask Trevor how he would like to do a later shift Trevor agrees. On his way out one of the committee asks Trevor if he didn`t mind if they asked why his Mam and Dad were always arguing, Trevor replies “About me not getting up for work in the morning!”

Do songs that you are aware of but haven`t heard for years or don`t even like pop into your head completely `out of the blue`, totally unrelated to what you are doing at the time?

This has been happening to me with increasing frequency lately, this morning while I was getting into the car what comes popping into my head? – `Jailer Bring Me Water`, I have read nor seen anything to do with jails in recent memory to prompt this tune and I wasn`t thirsty. Other songs pop up out of the blue every day, I`m not complaining but was wondering what could cause this or does it happen to you and give us an example of the song(s) you may hear.

Congratulations to Bournemouth, promoted to the Premier League as Champions. I know some of you don`t care for football, but there are many here who do. This is a great story, on the verge of going out of the football league less than 10 years ago now promoted to the promised land. Good luck.

I`ve just finished work for 3 days so if it rains I can`t cut the grass so I suppose I`ll have to listen to the backlog of music I`ve acquired over the last month. So what`ve you got planned? A member of the Massive recently described a type of music that they didn`t agree with as suffocating, this got me wondering whether any music brought about a similar reaction with you good people? Me? Religious music really turns me off. I`m a massive Dylan fan and yes I know there has been religious imagery present in his music since Bob started out but until the wife got me his Complete a Albums box set I didn`t own any of the `religious trilogy`. Still haven`t played them though. So what music makes you want a puff on your inhaler?
