Apologies for trying to flog my wares but I have two tickets for The Pretty Things in Leeds this Friday evening.
I bought them for me and my Dad to go but he can’t make it now. Could go myself but would rather sell them to get some money so I can book tickets for a different gig to go to with my Dad.
Face value for the two tickets is £30 but open to offers as it would be fair to say they aren’t the hottest tickets in town!!
Imagine there are a few Kurt Vile fans out there so thought I’d post this new song from one of my favourite artists of the last few years.
Really enjoyed his last few albums and the first couple of listens to this has got me looking forward to the new record in September.
Despite being impressed with the new Blur album it is the return of another great 90s band that has me more excited. Next week I’ve got tickets to see The Super Furry Animals in Manchester and I can’t wait. Rather embarrassingly I kind of missed them in the 90s when they burst on the scene. I knew the songs in the charts but in all honesty guitar music wasn’t large on my radar at the time (Ibiza has a lot to answer for!). By the time I had shaken off the need for over 140Bpm in my music, Rings Around The World had come out which whilst good is probably not their best album. The next few albums came and went. I caught them a few times at festivals and whilst enjoying their sets I wasn’t familiar with enough of the tracks to fully appreciate what I was seeing. However gradually over the last three years largely thanks to the beauty of Spotify I have started listening to much more of them and begun to form the opinion that they might just be the best band that formed on these shores during the 90s. This is the first review I’ve posted on here, or the old site, as I never feel I can eloquently express how the gig was. However I wanted to post a review of last nights Ryan Adams gig for anyone who like me may have given up on him a few years ago. RA is without doubt one of my favourite artists who, although inconsistent, has created some fantastic music over the years. However the run of albums from 29 through to III/IV hadn’t really appealed to me and while Ashes & Fire had hinted at a “return to form” it was still not comparable with his earlier records. So when a couple of old friends got in touch to say they were getting tickets I went along more to catch up with them than for the gig. My growing apathy for his records coupled with the uncertainty of which RA you were going to get left me with low expectations.
