14 overs in of the Indian run chase and I hate to say it I’m tipping India.Ball going through straight ,Aussies fucked up and should have put on another 50. Stadium packed with Indians – could be Mumbai by the sound of it and the Indian team seem like they have been here for the last 5 years so pretty comfortable with the conditions.

Relax Junior !
Two tickets have gone down and Kohli out for next to nothing is a huge bonus. I am surprised Australia only made it to 328. Heard a bit on the radio this morning and it was looking more like 350 -370. Mind you , Allan Border got it right, he did say around 320.
Sorry to move off topic a bit, but can you/anyone recommend a decent book/site re understanding the rules of cricket ? We played it at school and I was never interested in sports. Didn’t help getting hit on the head by a cricket ball and being knocked unconscious. Anyway, I saw a match at Sefton Park and really enjoyed the day. It’s a sport I think I could enjoy following.
Your best bet would be to have a look at the Wisden site, they must have a basic guide available. Other thoughts are looking at the MCC/Lords shop site, they too must have something basic available and I think Simon Hughes, the Channel 4 tv analyst had a book out a while back about this very subject. Otherwise, if you use Twitter, tweet Aggers (Jonathan Agnew) who is sure to have some suggestions.
Thanks Dodger. I really quite fancy taking it up as a spectator past time. I’ll do some research into your suggestions.
The more you watch, the more you pick up, much like any sport. The TMS podcast is also a good starter. You have to listen to Geoffrey, but he does talk (mostly) sense.
It also helps to have someone to talk to for some of the nuances that happen.
I’ve been an ice hockey fan for 25+ years and things still happen I don’t understand fully, then I find they are buried deep in the rules.
Cricket’s a fabulous game to watch, good luck and feel free to PM me (or I suspect, any number of others) for any tips, tricks or explanations.
See you at cow corner.
Mitchell Starc is a prick
Starting to chill ably assisted by a whisky or 3. Mousey did you watch the Aussies bT. I didn’t- how was the Indian teams demeanour when Warner was batting?
Listened rather than watched – don’t recall any issues
The irony with Starc is at the start of the summer Warne was bagging him for poor body language and being too passive.
Australia have India on toast – dunno why you guys were so worried
Come on New Zealand!!
( wrong thread?)
Don’t care who wins, but it’s going to be a terrific final, I think.
Rob, it won’t teach you much about the rules of cricket, but read the cricket match chapter of England Their England by A G McDonnell, it’s one of the funniest bits of writing in the English language. Available online here:

If not an Aussie I’d be barracking for the Kiwis too.
wonder if Australia gives em a few underarm balls?
