My head is spinning with the “Mornington Crescent”-type information on what a civilian does to prove they are covid-negative if travelling overland from the UK to Spain via France.
Does anyone set it out in a non-convoluted way? No 1 daughter is getting married in Gibraltar in a month’s time (she lives there with the beloved) and so that’s where we’ve got to go.
Please advise.

Nope.
The gov.Uk website has some but there are devils in the details. One of which is that the NHS app which shows that you are fully vaccinated is not the app you need for travel – there is a other one which needs authorising by you doctor for god knows what reason. (The NHS one already has your details)
GLW going to Italy tomorrow and has just been snagged by that.
For Spain you need an app that thankfully is available in English – spTH.
Good luck!
Correction: it is just one NHS app but the QR code proving vaccination status is England only, and if you want an international use THAT is the bit that needs proof of ID and a link to your doctor….
I just got back from France. Getting out there was easy if you’re fully vaccinated. I went through the tunnel so there was a declaration to complete and that’s it.
In France you deffo need your vaccine certificate – I had the NHS app version plus I printed it out. I also got a postal one from gov.uk and you can get a French (etc) translation of what it says. You will get asked for this in every cafe, restaurant etc. Masks obligatory in all shops, restaurants if wandering about etc.
You need to book the test you take on day 2 (following return) before you leave. I got it from Oncologica who were efficient though I missed the knock of the delivery guy who buggered off with the test and I had to have it re-delivered the next day. You buy it on line.
Before coming back you complete an on line Passenger Locator Form from the gov.uk website. You need travel details, passport details and the reference for your day 2 test which will have been emailed to you. Takes 10 mins if you have the info to hand.
Coming back was a PITA with the double tests (one in France during the three days prior to departure, then a day 2 test on returning). Getting the test in France involved booking an appointment in a pharmacy – I got one 2 days later, cost ¢25. Then I did the day 2 test and you get the results in a few days and a certificate.
I don’t know the deal from France to Spain & Gibraltar.
I’ve been contemplating a brief and unambitious trip to France, since I live 15 minutes from the tunnel, but having read the rules and regs I’m not sure that I can be bothered.
One thing I don’t know is whether my Aussie vax certificate will be accepted in France, and Mr Google is silent on the subject. I foresee a lot of head scratching and shoulder shrugging. I guess the Oz embassy in Paris might know…
Just came back from Iceland . The NHS app was good enough here and there. The passenger locator form is easy except that I didnt realise that I needed the test to release number for the test I had booked for day 2 back in UK. As a result I needed to buy another one online when I was in Iceland. That would have been a major blow except that I am going to Barbados in 2 weeks and can use the original one for that trip.
I have a friend currently in Spain who has driven through France who also confirms the printed vaccination certificate is fine.
I had a photo of mine on my phone which was also ok.
Thanks for the advice, everyone!
I’m in a similar situation. I want to go back to Blighty (from the US) to see my dad, who’s not doing too well. It seems that each website I visit to see what the rules & regs are contradict the one I just read 2 minutes ago!
The number of tests I would have to purchase (assuming what I’ve read is correct) would be as much as the cost of the flight! But that’s not really a concern – seeing the old man before he’s completely lost to dementia is the important thing.
US is on amber list, you will need to quarantine on arrival, but can pay for a test in order to be released from that on day 5 instead of 10.
Also test before arrival and one after 2 days I think

Thanks, Dai!
No prob, been keeping a keen eye on things in case of travelling from Canada, we are now green.
