I have to host a music quiz soon and came up with a beezer idea for the album cover round, where you see five album covers and have to work out the link between them. I thought of PSB ‘Introspective’ and Bowie’s ‘Station To Station’, the link being they both have six tracks. Now am stumped. Any recommendations for six track LPs, ideally a bit less obvious (but not too obscure!)? Cheers

Goodness knows why, but the first example that popped into my head was Rick Wakeman’s “Criminal Record”. Probably a bit obscure for your purposes!

Oooh no this is perfect thanks!

Um, how many tracks on the 6 Wives of Henry 8th?
duco01 says
I suppose “Foxtrot” by Genesis has six tracks – as long as you count “Supper’s Ready” as just one song, and not individual constituent mini-songs.

Trespass has 6 tracks

I hope these people are all Afterword lurkers. Most music rounds on quizzes I’ve run would get stumped even naming any of the albums from the covers, never mind the link between them.
I’m afraid that when it comes to music, the lowest common denominator is VERY low.

It’s a quiz in Berlin, I’m standing in for the regular quizmaster this weekend, he’s into 80s and 90s punk and hardcore, so they’re in for a bit of a surprise this week! Thanks all, for the ideas

It’s in Berlin? Gotta be The Man Machine.
I always think of Don’t Stand Me Down as six tracks because of the way two tracks fit together but, alas, no…

The Fall is of course the correct answer: Slates. Go one up and its Room To Live.

Thanks! I was thinking of Human League’s ‘Reproduction’ for another round, where you have to identify the album from a tiny section of the album sleeve

Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing by Soft Cell was a 6 tracker. Looking up on wiki to make sure my facts are right I learned that they have a partially completed album produced by Donald Fagen featuring some of his songs. It was not allowed to be released due to contract disputes so they bashed together NSED in a week.

Let’s have Al Stewart’s “Love Chronicles”, too. From 1969.
As everyone knows, the 18-minute title track contained the first use of the word “fucking” in popular recorded commercial music.
Moose the Mooche says
No it didn’t. Some guy called Burt did a thread on this in the old place… can’t remember what the real answer is, of course!
