Further to the vintage vinyl thread….
It seems I may have in my collection a few fairly valuable vinyl LPs. Rather than go down the ebay route, I’d much rather take them to a 2nd hand shop and do a quick deal, even if I don’t make as much money from the deal.
So, does anyone know of a shop with a 30 mile radius of Redhill that wouldn’t try to screw me?

You’ll get more via Discogs. Shops may give you a ‘fair’ price, but will always be factoring in what they then mark it up at for sale. Generally a fair audience on Discogs. What have you got then?
David, I can condone the advice of Chris re: Discogs. I`ve sold and purchased items on the site, it`s relatively simple but you will have to price the LPs you are selling, If, as you say you are not bothered about making a fortune you should sell quickly.
To be fair the OP says he wants to do a ‘quick deal’ – Discogs is a bit more involved than eBay – you need to set up an account and match records to the correct version of the release and grade correctly – so it’s eBay or Take Me To Your Dealer I’d say.
I can cautiously recommend Ben’s Collectors Records in Guildford.

I took a huge vanload of mostly terrible records there which I inherited when my father died and he took everything and gave me a fair old chunk of money for them. I would expect him to give you a decent price for any actually valuable records too.
Ben’s has been there for years. I used to go there when I lived in Godalming in the 90s.
We sold my Brother in law’s records (it’s a long story) to Across the Tracks in Brighton. A nice guy, more money than we expected and he drove 20+ miles to collect about 1500 albums.
I used to know a second-hand record dealer. If he was offered a whole collection he’d inspect it, and if there was anything worthwhile would always buy the lot. Anything he knew he couldn’t sell would get taken to the charity shop next door.
He managed to acquire a gold & black stereo Please Please Me during one clearance.
Thanks for the tips. Wasn’t familiar with Discogs, and I’ve spent an enlightening few hours checking the market worth of some of my collection. Turns out some things aren’t as valuable as I’d thought (Growing by Jonesy – but still worth a decent amount) whereas some are worth more than the couple of quid I’d expected (Appetite for Destruction, Suspiria soundtrack).
I’ll give Ben’s a go,
