My office chair has finally given up the ghost and I need to buy a new one.
Here’s the problem. It seems to be impossible to buy office furniture “on the high street”.
I don’t really want to buy online. I want to sit in it. See how comfortable it is.
Do the massive have any suggestions of an actual shop I can go to to buy a chair (Ideally a comfortable “executive” type chair).
Somewhere within a 30 mile radius of Fleet, Hampshire would be ideal.

John Lewis?
Staples do office furniture, include executive chairs.
Another good suggestion @minibreakfast. Looks like we’re going to Basingstoke
We ride at dawn!
…sorry, force of habit…
Got my computer desk and office chair from Staples – good price too.
8 years on, both still standing (which is a surprise because I put the together).
Good shout @ip33.
We have John Lewises in Reading and Basingstoke.
Ikea have a good range of office chairs.
Agree. We got one of these for Twang Jr, laughably good value and so far has survived regular contact so must be well made.

Thanks @john-walters. Mrs Askwith has an irrational hatred of Ikea so we may need to skip that one
Herman Miller Aeron.
Your arse will thank you, even if your bank manager won’t 🙂
Seconded. And I bought a reconditioned one so it wsn’t so er… back breathtakingly expensive
Looks good @twang but can you take the arms off without rendering it unstable? (need to sit in it with the guitar)
Ah no. Needs the arms. I have a basic typing chair in my music room for that very reason which I got from a local office supplies business.
I have two of these. Fantastic things.
Can they mate and reproduce?
Sadly not, as the things are two hundred and sixty sovs each.
The possibilities for this item of furniture are… interesting.
Is that why you have two …..”in case”?
I used to have one of them. No idea what happened to it but it was excellent. And congrats for getting Imgur to work – it has never once worked for me.
Last time we needed a new chair for my wife’s home office, we were annoyed that we’d clearly paid over the odds for chairs for years. We took a visit to our local independent office interiors store. Before trekking off to a superstore, see if you have one within reach. The only problem with our local one is that as it’s mainly aimed at businesses, it doesn’t open at the weekend.
A Hag. Brilliant, long lasting and reasonably priced. Best chair I have ever had.

It’s not guitarist friendly. Arms a no-no.
It does actually have some arms. They’re just not that obvious. I would highly recommend trying one.
I saw this on Updates and thought someone had done a Nights In about…. oh never mind.
Yes I know it has them. You don’t want arms as they get in the way if you’re sitting in it playing the guitar is what I meant in normal English…
But they are also very small. They’re sort of there if you want them, not ther if you don’t.
Oh dear.
Call yourself @leedsboy? I think you’re from Wigan.
I feel very multicultural to be honest. I love a pie so there could be some Wigan forebears going on. But I’m mainly Bracknell. With a dash of Welshpool and Liverpool.
