So we fly out of Oz Oct 4. The itinerary is set. I have a week in Tokyo and a coupla days in Oska at the end.
Most interested in records, Cds and Jazz clubs.
Please give me your recommendations.
I know there are a gazillion options. These days probably more interested in jazz/ blues/reggae ( foundation) and dub. Bootlegs have an interest too.
Staying in Asakusa.
thanks.

I don’t have any recommendations as it’s on my list of places I want to go but you might be interested in this

I think Afterworder @napaj lives away from the big cities, but might have some good advice.
I do indeed (rural mountainous area), with no record shops within…. well, a long distance. I think the last time I went to one was probably over 20 years ago!
I’m also kind of allergic to jazz, blues and reggae, so I am woefully unable to help.
Good luck, though, Junior Wells, and enjoy your big city experiences.
There was a recent(ish) episode of the We Buy Records podcast where presenter Tim (who runs a record shop in Sussex) went buying LPs in Japan. In summary: head to the suburbs as there are no longer bargains to be had in the city-centre shops.
Pleased to see Disk Union still in business. Unlikely to be cheap but multiple floors. I bought a great many CDs there around 10 years ago

Regardless of what you’re into Kyoto is an absolute must.
Just comes across a free download of a 100 page PDf written by an aussie vinyl nut. Haven’t read it yet.
Candyflip records.
I recall cd prices being eye-watering.
Well, I live in the Tohoku region, rather off the tourist trail, but Disk Union in Shinjuku (Tokyo) is a must. Try the main store for 8 small but packed floors of rock CDs and vinyl, and the second-hand shop nearby for jazz/reggae and extensive vinyl. Tower Records right next to Shinjuku Station South Exit is not the place it once was, but may also be useful. The low yen is a tragedy for my pension, but may help ease the pain of buying stuff.

Thanks Pessoa. Yes Disk Union is a lock and couple of little reggae shops in Shinjuku Dub Store and Coco Isle pencilled in so far.
